Hi everyone! 👋
I wanted to give you a BIG update on Kiln Box and where things are headed.
Many of you have been patiently waiting for Kiln Box to open, and while the vision hasn't changed, the path to get there has.
Instead of opening Kiln Box first, I'm launching Tampa Clay Society as the first step. This allows me to build business history, establish business credit, and generate the funding needed for the larger production kilns that Kiln Box will eventually operate with.
In short, Kiln Box has taken a more reasonable path to ensure we'll be a stable and established location in Tampa for years to come.
So what does that mean for you?
🎉 Tampa Clay Society will focus on beginner-friendly handbuilding pottery workshops & events, but my goal is also to begin offering Open Studio time slots for experienced clay artists who don't need a class.
The Open Studio program will eventually become part of the Kiln Box vision. In the beginning, membership may be limited while I grow the studio. My goal is to keep it as affordable as possible while factoring in clay, glazes, firing costs, and studio supplies.
The studio will have shared tools available (you're always welcome to bring your favorites!), though there won't be room for pottery wheels just yet. If wheel space becomes possible in the future, you'll definitely be the first to know.

My tentative opening is August, and I'll continue posting updates as everything comes together.
Thank you all for sticking with me. This is why I love the pottery community and I appreciate you more than you know. I know this has been a journey, but kilns are reaaally expensive 😅
