Started making jugs and sets of ceramic thumbtacks for the KickStarter campaign.

Tip: E6000 glue is your friend to adhere tacks to the back of ceramic pieces. Just get flat tacks from Amazon or the Dollar Store.

*I am in LOVE with Mayco's Lemon Meringue glaze. This is how it performs at Cone 5.

Where we at with the KickStarter campaign?

Roughly 40% of the launch items have been completed 🥳 Things are moving along a lot quicker so my hope if to launch the KickStarter prior to the holidays.

This way, not only could people potentially receive items from the KickStarter in time for Christmas/Hanukkaha gift🤞but we'll avoid the distractions that come with the holidays....
..particularly the food distraction because every Thanksgiving I plan on being a whale for a day.😉

Also- I've also created a Zine just for pottery people. Check out my last post. I hope to continue making the Zine even after the opening of Kiln Box so that we can add more robust content and include spotlights from our clay community.

Now that the ArtPrize competition is over, I can go back to life starting a pottery business.

I have a spreadsheet of roughly 733 items left to make, but I'm not worried. I'm starting w/one of each item (roughly 45 items) so that I can get the Kickstarter live. I'll make the rest as orders come in.

Kickstarter will fund the kilns + kiln equipment😃

Hey friends!! I wanted to share with you some ways that I'm raising money to start Kiln Box and a free way you can help:

1) Working on a pottery inventory to launch a KickStarter Campaign
2) Art competitions
3) Bank business loan after I have at least half the costs raised

I wanted to discuss the current art competition I'm involved in...because it's kinda a big one- ArtPrize 2025

Not everyone may have heard about ArtPrize, but it is the worlds largest showing of art and a piece of my pottery was accepted to be shown at one of the largest galleries in ArtPrize- The NOW Gallery. I'm super super excited!!! It's such an honor but more over, this is our chance to speed up the opening of Kiln Box!!!!!

The grand prize winner will take home $100,000 which is almost exactly half of what I'm looking to raise for Kiln Box. 🙃

Public voting began on Sept 19th and runs through Oct 4th. I'm about 11 days away from the awards ceremony in Grand Rapids, MI.

Who knew I'd grow out of my small kiln so quickly?
Oh yea, because I have 800+ pieces of pottery to make for the KickStarter campaign. 😂

An update no one saw coming-

Making 800+ pieces for the KickStarter to raise money for the kilns will take some time. I'm moving along faster than expected but not fast enough.

I'll make 1 of each item that'll be listed on KickStarter, list how many I can produce, and then make them as the orders come in. This way the KickStarter can get up and running a bit faster.

PS- We weren't really sure where we were going to store 800+ pieces of pottery. 😏

Happy 4th!
No day off for me. I’m deep in Kickstarter prep. I fired up the kiln this morning with a batch of test tiles so that I can narrow down glazes that really pop. Goal: Create pieces that’ll fuel the campaign

If my math’s right, I’ll be making 800+ pieces of pottery to raise enough for the kilns🙏

Pottery now. Burgers later.

👍KickStarter campaign prep is moving along. This will primarily fund the production kilns we'll need for Kiln Box.

✊Didn't win the Amber Grant, but that's totally ok. I entered into the ArtPrize competition that's coming up in Sept in Grand Rapids, MI. There are multiple $10,000 winning opportunities as well as the grand prize of $100,000 - All of which would go toward opening Kiln Box. I'll share details soon!

Come hell or highwater, working my butt off to get the doors open before the end of the year! It's all I think about.

We're working on a KickStarter campaign to raise money for the kilns. We'll be rewarding donors with things like sticker packs, pottery, totes...etc. All the fun things!

In the meantime, I've had to create some funny pottery related sayings for bumper magnets and stickers. Here's a sneak peek:

🥲 My therapist says I should stop throwing things… but here we are.

😛 I whisper sweet nothings to my clay. It still collapses.

☺️ This mug is emotionally stable. I’m not.

😘 Sticker specific to Kiln Box: Kiln Box is my toxic enabler. And I love her for it.

😅 Bumper Magnet that's Kiln Box member specific: "Honking won’t make my pots less breakable, Sharon."

We're doing a round of fund raising for the equipment so more to come on the KickStarter! *And more funny things to come. Promise🤞
