Happy St. Patrick's Day! ☘️ This is my completed Dara Knot, part of my Celtic Knot Collection. I recently had it printed on photo rag paper mounted and framed with a torn edge. It's the perfect addition to my home studio, which I've recently re-designed. This knot is a modern Celtic symbol inspired by the roots of an oak tree, representing inner strength, resilience, and endurance. Its name derives from the Irish word doire or dair (oak tree), symbolizing wisdom, deep roots, and connection to heritage. I think my mom would love it. ☘️💚

I'm working through some of the ideas I was inspired to explore during the challenge. I've long wanted to create a collection of Celtic knots with a watercolor aesthetic. Here's a peek at my first musings. It's The Dara Knot. I chose it first because I was challenged by its complexity and I connected with the meaning. "Dara" means "oak" and those twists and turns are like the roots of the tree. I identify with the deeper meaning of the symbol. Do you, too?

I was going through my files looking for some new when I found this piece that I painted several years ago. Something about it just spoke to me and I found myself immediately working on a new motif. It’s far from finished, but I think it’s going to be a good element for some future pattern designs. Here’s the beginning stages. I thought you might like to see my process.

And that's a wrap! I just finished my final assignment for the challenge and thus completed my first mini-collection. The last piece called for typography, and it was a lot of fun "brushing up" on my hand lettering skills. ➡️Swipe to see 2 other versions. I've settled on the name, "Poppies on Parade" for this collection, and now I'll be working to use these designs on an assortment of home decor and print-on-demand products. I'm so excited to be featured by ! Her work has been an inspiration to me for many years. I'm having more fun with my art than ever before and using skills that I haven't really paid attention to in years, thanks to the challenge. Can't wait to see how she's going to challenge me this week!

It's been quite the productive day 😊Somehow I managed to create 5 more patterns! POPPIES, POPPIES, + MORE POPPIES! 🤣🤪😍 Do you have a favorite? I'm thinking some of these would be great designs for fabrics and wallpapers. This challenge is such a great way to hone my and skills.
