Been meaning to post this for a while. My latest build, part one of a four-piece desk build I’m making that will wrap around my lab. Really excited about this project! Swipe to see the progress of this piece. (P.S. one of my friends told me the burn looks like a stick figure and now I can’t unsee it 😆)

Made this from 5 pieces of 2x6 glued together into a board. Once they were all set and everything sanded smooth, I burned it with my Lichtenberg burner. Cleaned all that up then I torched the whole thing. Gave that some more sanding to get out any harsh burns and clean up the whole thing. Then I stained it a nice red oak. The sanded down burn with stain applied really made everything look awesome! Finally I poured the epoxy resin in all the burns and knots. Once I gave it a final sanding, I gave the whole thing a couple coats of spray matte polyurethane (the spray is more expensive but well worth it for a nice smooth finish). Really happy with the final result!

If you notice, there’s some lights and k***s on the front. My Grandpa (a retired Western Electric engineer) passed recently and left me a bunch of old Western Electric equipment I wanted to integrate somehow. So during the process, I routed out a slot and 3D printed these blocks (using wood filament) to fit in perfectly and stained them to match of course. The k***s are old switchboard switches that I modified to be momentary, and they control things in my smart home. The lights are white switchboard lamp lenses with RGB lights behind them. The three lights correspond to my 3D printer’s status and temperatures.

All in all just this one piece has been a ton of work but so much fun to see come together. Learned so much in the process. Can’t wait to post more updates! I’m already working on part 2 😁

My cousin Ronald has always admired my coffee table so much and has been dreaming of a table like it of his own. So as a combination Christmas/21st birthday gift I made him a one-of-a-kind desk of his very own!

This was a total learning process for me, I made this out of 5 strips of 2x6 glued together. My first ever attempt at making a tabletop like this. Definitely hit some challenges along the way and learned a lot in the process. I’m so happy with how the final product came out though, and more importantly so is Ronald!

Pretty soon I’ll be making my own version for my Lab (what I call my office 😆). I’ll try to post more of the progression as I do that so stay tuned!

One of my favorite parts of woodworking that I’ve found is that these projects benefit everyone! I get practice and get to try and learn how to build all kinds of new stuff, and in return my family gets one-of-a-kind presents made specifically with their taste in mind! Win-win!

Also, gotta give credit to my awesomely creative Mom Donna Russo for helping out with the lettering using her Cricut!

Hey everyone! I’m Chris, I’m a maker in South Florida. I make all kinds of things but specialize in woodworking. I generally burn the lichtenberg figure into my projects through a process of electrifying the wood, and sometimes fill those burns with epoxy resin. Follow me as I make all kinds of cool stuff, and checkout my Etsy store to see what I have in stock at the moment!

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions!
