Meskwaki Powwow Meskwaki Annual Powwow The Annual Meskwaki Powwow originated from the traditional religious and social beliefs of the Meskwaki Tribe.

Today, it is not so much a religious event, but more of a social gathering. Specifically, today's event, is derived from the "Green Corn Dance" and other social events of the Tribe in it's early years. The "Green Corn Dance" was an annual event that took place during the harvesting of crops.

Shares distribution will be from 3-7pm Tuesday August 11th at the Meskwaki Rec Center.

Checks have been issued, Adults must pick up your own check. Child dancer/singer checks may be picked up by parent.

Checks will not be mailed!!

We are here getting ready for the 10am flag raising for Curtis B. Davenport US Navy.

We are still monitoring the weather this morning and we will update everyone accordingly.

As it stands, we are still on schedule for 1pm Grand Entry.

💜💜 The Meskwaki Annual Powwow Association has dedicated the Saturday Night 7pm performance in Memoriam of Chaille “Dawa” Morgan.

Chaille passed away four years ago, she looked forward to the Meskwaki Powwow every year and this year would have been no different.

She looked forward to dancing the year she passed on, she had a new set of Appliqué regalia made that year and her favorite color was purple.

After her passing, her best friend/sister Lexi Kapayou decided to honor her the best way she could. Chaille loved participating in the community fun runs and being with her family and friends at community events.

Lexi decided the best way was to host a community fun run and an Appliqué Dance special in her honor at the 110th Annual Meskwaki Powwow.

With that being said, we invite each and everyone to wear purple in her honor. Let’s fill that arena and the seating area with a sea of purple tonight! 💜💜
