Thanks for an amazing "Snow Queen" weekend, everyone! We couldn't have asked for more enthusiastic audiences for our show's return to the historic Quincy Music Theatre -- and we're so proud of all of our dancers. The weather outside may still feel like the Palace of the Snow Queen, but in our hearts? It's warmer than the Spring Queen's Garden. ❄️🌷❤️🍀

Just one more chance to see "The Snow Queen" at The Quincy Music Theatre, today at 2:30! Tickets are available at the door, or online at qmt.org. Don't miss the 2018 performance of this Tallahassee winter tradition!

Every year, our final week of rehearsals for "The Snow Queen" makes us reflect on the wonderful memories of "Snow Queen past." We've been putting on our show for a dozen years, so each role has been played by many talented dancers. In that time, heroine Colleen has been brought to life by five unique young ladies, each of whom brought new skills and interpretations to the stage.

See Evan Earnest (center) reprise her role as Colleen at The Quincy Music Theatre this weekend -- you won't want to miss her! Tickets for all three performances are still available at qmt.org.

Have you ever wondered what we're doing backstage at "The Snow Queen"? Mostly, we're changing our shoes as fast as we can! The choreography of our show calls for both Irish softshoes (which have very long laces) and Irish hardshoes (which have both laces and a buckle). This means that even our youngest performers have learned not only how to dance in these different shoes, but how to very quickly change between them in the dark and quiet behind the stage. If you'd like to be amazed by our quick shoe-changes (not to mention our dancing and storytelling!) in real life, tickets to next weekend's performance are still available at qmt.org!

If you liked the snow flurrying its way around Tallahassee today, have we got a show for you! "The Snow Queen" returns to The Quincy Music Theatre a week from Saturday!

We weren't going to say anything, but we think we might know who brought this snow to Tallahassee... ❄️🌬️❄️

Our dancers began their holiday break this week, but before they left, our advanced hardshoe class made sure to share the spirit of the season with director/choreographer David Jones. If you know our David, you know he's never met a pun he didn't like -- so students surprised him by gifting him a "map of puns," which he immediately started making puns about. 😂 We hope your holidays are warm, happy, and include exactly the correct number of puns. We'll see you at "The Snow Queen" in January! ☃️❄️🐧

Love to see our Tallahassee Irish Step Dancers getting creative and helping each other out in rehearsals for "The Snow Queen"! All our dancers are putting themselves through their paces every single rehearsal to make this year's show the best it can be.

All of the Tallahassee Irish Step Dancers are volunteers, who love dance and performance so much that we carve out time -- from our studies, our careers, and our hobbies -- to create art together as a company. Unfortunately, that means that we all sometimes have scheduling conflicts, in both rehearsal and performance. But scheduling conflicts are actually making this year's production of "The Snow Queen" better, because it means we get to cast not one but *two* amazing, veteran performers in the role of the Fall Queen.

If you're familiar with our show, you know that the Fall Queen is an intimidating figure to heroine Colleen. At the rehearsal shown here, our Fall Queens graciously took turns playing the role of Colleen for one another -- and if you ask us, they were having just as much fun pretending to be scared as they were perfecting their footwork.

You can't go wrong seeing either of our superb Fall Queens in performances of "The Snow Queen" this January. See our event page for more details!

Those of you who have seen our annual production of The Snow Queen know that the Reindeer who accompanies Colleen on her journey to defeat the Snow Queen...well, let's just say he's not as brave as he thinks he is. We got this quick Boomerang of our new Reindeer trying to run away from danger at our last run-through, and it is making our week!

If you'd like to see the Reindeer -- and all the other characters in "The Snow Queen" -- live in action, check out our event page!

If you give your dancers a ballet class, chances are they're going to want a barre. We're delighted about our new ballet class, meeting Wednesdays at 5:30! Our Irish dancers are learning that ballet helps build a foundation of technique and discipline for every other form of dance (they're also learning that a barre is great for practicing the more complex Irish kicks). Come and join us for ballet on Wednesday, won't you?
