A look back at The Write Stuff: Playwrights Unscripted — our playwriting panel featuring the four organizers behind the Friends with the Write Stuff Playwriting Festival. 🎭✍️

It was such a joy to talk about writing, process, collaboration, community, and what it means to bring new plays from the page into the room. This festival was built by playwrights, for playwrights — and getting to share that conversation with our audience was one of the highlights of the weekend.

A huge thank-you to Theatre Tallahassee for the generous use of their space and for helping us create a welcoming home for playwrights, actors, and audiences throughout the festival weekend. New plays need rooms where they can be heard — and we’re so thankful we had such a wonderful one. ✨

🎭✍️ STAGE WRITE CHALLENGE — want in?
On Friday night, we’ll pull a set of writing parameters out of a hat (genre, setting, number of characters, etc.). Then you’ve got ONE mission:

🕙 Write overnight
🕛 Turn in by noon Saturday
🎬 Hear it read at the festival (cold reading!)

How it works:

Come to the Stage Write Challenge Kickoff on Friday, April 24 at 10:00 PM at Theatre Tallahassee.
We reveal the prompt + rules.
You write a short play overnight following the parameters.
Bring/submit it by Saturday, April 25 at 12:00 PM.
We’ll read the brand-new plays during the Stage Write Challenge Reveal (12:00–1:00 PM).

✅ No rehearsals — scripts are read cold by a pool of standby actors (cold to everyone except the playwright).
✅ Up to 4 characters max (no more than 2 women and 2 men).

Come play. Come write. Come hear something brand-new become theatre in real time. ✨
