Happy Friday! We're back with the week 4 answer to our instrument spotlight! Did you guess the instrument featured in the close up image?

It's the cello!

The cello is known for its rich, warm tone and incredibly expressive range, so much so that it's often compared to the human voice.

Our Principal Cellist, Kim Jones, was recently featured in a COCA Spotlight in the Tallahassee Democrat! Check it out via the post pinned to the top of our feed, and stay tuned for next week's Instrument Spotlight!

Come out to Kleman Plaza tomorrow July 3 to hear the TSO Brass Quintet at A Star-Spangled Celebration! From stirring fanfares to familiar tunes you'll know by heart, this free outdoor concert is a great way to kick off Independence Day weekend with family and friends.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket, enjoy local food trucks, and experience the power and excitement of live brass music in the heart of downtown Tallahassee.

Looking for something fun to do over the holiday weekend? Kick off your Independence Day celebration in downtown Tallahassee at A Star-Spangled Celebration on Friday, July 3 at Kleman Plaza!

This FREE, family-friendly event has something for everyone:

🎬 4:00 PM – Free IMAX screening of National Treasure at the Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee (no tickets are required; seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis)
🌭 6:00 PM – Food vendors, an instrument petting zoo, and family-friendly games and activities on Kleman Plaza
🎶 7:00 PM – A patriotic concert by the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra featuring a brass quintet and community sing-along

Happy Concert Week! We have an exciting new addition to our program at Kleman Plaza on July 3... Billy Dean!! He has written an original song for the Sign On 250 project, a year-long initiative that invites all Americans to unite and symbolically "sign" the Declaration of Independence.
