TW: sexual harassment
So as many of you know, I (Katryn) live here along with Maegan and Laura and we put on a lot of shows in town! It's something that has been extremely rewarding for us this past year. We love this house a lot, but unfortunately we will be moving out at the end of July when out lease is up. This is something we don't want to do, but we've been put in a situation where we cannot stay here. The day after this past Christmas, I woke up to multiple dick pics from my landlord along with suggestive/crude text messages. This would've been annoying, violating, etc. if it were just an average dude, but this person has a key to our house which is why it was extremely scary. I texted him a day or two later asking if he meant to send me those photos, and he said his phone was stolen. I recognized his camo crocs in one of the pictures however, which is why I knew he was lying. We were planning on breaking our lease and moving out in January, but it was very difficult to find a new house halfway through the school year in a college town that we could afford, and we didn't want this one terrible incident/person to ruin something that we love so much. A lawyer called him and told him he wasn't allowed to contact me or come on the property without 24 hrs notice or else we would break the lease and sue him, and he stopped denying that the photos were of him. He legally does not have to renew our lease, which is why we won't be staying here for another year, plus we don't feel safe here anymore which is something that should be inherent in a home. The Shark Tank was where I went to my first ever DIY show, and it was the first DIY space that I ever played at. I have a lot of great memories here and I don't know if I will ever love another house this much, even if it is kind of strange and falling apart. But regardless of this sh*tty thing that has happened, we really appreciate everyone who has supported us this year with reopening a great Tallahassee show space. It has meant so much to all of us because we've worked really hard, and I'm so thankful for this community of wonderful people who want to help female identifying/non binary people succeed in their musical endeavors. We wanted to post this because people have been asking about the rent prices etc. here, and we just wanted everyone who is interested to know ahead of time what you would be getting yourself into/where thousands of your dollars will be going. We would advise you to not support this person but I'm sure someone will anyways so idk! Do whatever you want but yeah, just wanted to let you all know what happened. Thanks for reading this and for everyone who has been there for us and helped us in this very strange and sh*tty situation, we love you all!
