We create and nurture community-based opportunities for artistic expression. The focus is on arts opportunities by and for the community. We strive to have individuals involved at all levels: participating in the arts, behind the scenes, volunteering, supporting and attending events. Although we do a little bit of presenting visiting talent, our mission and operations is largely locally produced arts. We are guided by the articles and bylaws established by the founders in 1981. We are also guided by the strategic plan that is revised annually.

💋 HANGAR LIFE
Things Are Getting a Little Strange Around Here...

If you've noticed any questionable activity behind the scenes at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar lately, don't worry. It's all perfectly normal.

Well, normal by Rocky Horror standards. 😉

We're getting ready for our October 30 showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and that means gathering props, making plans, and preparing for a night when dressing up and shouting at the movie are practically expected!

Phillip and Jenny Manning will be hosting the festivities, and we'll have the props ready. All you need to do is show up in your best Rocky Horror costume and prepare to do the Time Warp again!

💋 Friday, October 30
🚪 10:00 p.m.
📍 Sheldon Community Arts Hangar
🎟️ $20 — props included!
🕺 This is a 21-and-older event

Just another perfectly ordinary day behind the scenes at the Hangar.

We'll see ya at the Hangar! 👄

🎭 HANGAR LIFE
Taking Back the Town!

There's a whole lot happening behind the scenes at the Hangar today!

Our DAC board members are busy rolling up their sleeves, setting tables, making preparations, and getting everything ready for one of Talkeetna's favorite traditions: TAKE BACK THE TOWN!

It's the one night of the year when we celebrate our DAC members, welcome the return of the quieter season, and officially declare that Talkeetna belongs to the locals again. (We love our visitors, but we do enjoy finding a parking spot. 😉)

Our board members are hosting a brisket dinner and annual membership meeting before opening the Hangar to the whole town for a night of music and dancing with Blackwater Railroad at 7:00 pm.

And here's what we love most: our board members aren't just making decisions around a table. They're setting the tables, too!

A big thank-you to our DAC board for the time, energy, and heart they put into making this celebration happen. ❤️

Here's to our members, our volunteers, and the wonderful community that makes Talkeetna, well… Talkeetna.

We'll see ya at the Hangar!

Tomorrow's the big day, and we've got brisket, a little business, and a whole lot of dancing on the agenda at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar!

First up, DAC members are invited to join us for our annual membership meeting, board elections, and a brisket dinner. Then we're throwing open the Hangar doors to the whole town (and anyone else who wants to join the fun!) for a night of live music with Blackwater Railroad!

🥩 5:30 p.m. — Members-only dinner & annual meeting
🎸 7:00 p.m. — Blackwater Railroad takes the stage
📍 Sheldon Community Arts Hangar
🎟️ Concert tickets: $20 for non-members • FREE for DAC members

Dust off those dancing shoes, round up your friends, and come celebrate with us!

After all, it's not every day we get to take back the town. 😉

❤️ HANGAR LIFE- Have You Seen Hannah?

If you're looking for Hannah around Talkeetna, we'd suggest checking the Hangar first. Odds are pretty good she's here planning something, painting something, or hosting something!

Hannah is one of our wonderful DAC board members, a dedicated volunteer, a fantastic chef and hostess, and the talented artist behind many of our stage backdrops. She's also one of our biggest cheerleaders for the arts in our community.

And somehow, she always seems to find time for one more thing!

We love how Hannah shows up for DAC, for the arts, and for the people who make this community so special.

Hannah, thank you for sharing your time, talent, creativity, and generous spirit with all of us. The Hangar wouldn't be quite the same without you! ❤️

Next time you see Hannah around town, give her a little love. She's earned it!

🎶 ART MATTERS. Do you feel the way we feel about live performances?

A live performance can’t be recreated on a screen. There is nuance lost when observing something recorded rather than a live performance.

It’s the musicians tuning up. The rustle of an audience settling into their seats. The moment the lights go down. And then, for a little while, artists and audience share an experience that exists only in that room, on that night.

In a small community like ours, those moments carry a great deal of meaning. Live performance gives us a reason to gather, connects us to artists and to one another, and brings experiences to the Upper Su Valley that we might otherwise have to travel hundreds of miles to find.

That’s why we keep opening the doors, turning on the lights, and making room for art.

Because art matters—especially here. ❤️

👹 THERE ARE TROLLS IN THEM THAR HILLS.
I've got to tell you...
We've got at least one staff member here at DAC who is *very* excited for the return of B-Movie Bingo! Can you guess who this person might be?

B-Movie Bingo kicks off Wednesday, October 7 with *Trollhunter*—a Norwegian found-footage adventure involving mysterious bear attacks, government secrets, giant trolls, and one very unusual job.

Come for the movie. Stay for the bingo. And remember: if something enormous comes lumbering out of the woods, we recommend heading back to the Hangar bar!

📅 Wednesday, October 7
🚪 Doors: 7:30 p.m.
🎬 Movie: 8:00 p.m.
📍 Sheldon Community Arts Hangar
🍺 The bar will be open! (and concessions, too!)
💵 $5

Grab your friends and join us for the first B-Movie Bingo of the season.
This event is PG-13. Let's get ready for a little scary and a lot of laughs!

We’ll see ya at the Hangar! 👹🍿
