Takoma Park Recreation Center currently closed due to no water (7315 New Hampshire Ave) WSSC is working in the area and has shut off water to the Recreation Center (7315 New Hampshire Ave) and surrounding area. Staff will pick up After the Bell participants at TPES and PBES and walk them to the Community Center (7500 Maple Ave) today (06.05.26) Parents/Guardians are being contacted.

04.15.26 The Gymnasium and Fitness Room remain closed at this time. The City is awaiting reports on the extent of the damage and will then address next steps. Classes and programs have been moved to various locations and students have been notified. Memberships have been frozen.

The Front and Back Room are not impacted.

Join us!

Teen Night: Game On – Last Teen Night of the School Year

Join us for the final Teen Night of the school year with the Takoma Park Recreation Department.

On Friday, April 17 from 6–8 p.m., teens in grades 6–12 are invited to enjoy an exciting evening featuring a gaming truck experience. Participants will have the chance to play the latest consoles and popular video games in a high-tech mobile gaming lounge, with options ranging from sports and racing games to multiplayer battles with friends.

This event is completely free to attend, so don’t miss this opportunity to wrap up the school year with a night of food, music, gaming, and fun. Parents are especially encouraged to stop by, as this will be the last Teen Night of the school year.

EVENT CANCELED: Due to a water main leak near Takoma Overlook and resulting flooding at the Recreation Center (7315 New Hampshire Ave) on Monday night, we unfortunately need to cancel the Fitness Expo scheduled for Saturday, April 11.

The fitness room and gymnasium at the Takoma Park Recreation Center are currently closed as we focus on cleanup and repairs.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) morning classes and programs have been canceled due to a building flood.

We regret to inform you that tomorrow's morning classes at the Recreation Center (7315 New Hampshire Ave) have been canceled due to a water main break adjacent to the Recreation Center this evening. ✨🎉 Mondays are full of fun at the Recreation Center! 🎉✨
From creativity to friendly competition, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Our Knitting Club is going strong—not only working on their projects but also lending a helping hand by stuffing eggs for the upcoming Egg Hunt 🐣💛

Meanwhile, the energy is high with three tables of ping pong in action! 🏓 Laughter, rallies, and a little friendly competition keep the room buzzing all afternoon.

We love seeing our community come together, stay active, and have a great time. Mondays done right! 💫

UPDATE: Code Blue–Early Dismissal for Monday, March 16, due to severe storms possible at dismissal.

High Schools will dismiss at 12:00 pm (Northwood HS at 11:40)
Middle Schools will dismiss at 12:30 pm
Elementary Schools that begin at 9:00 am will dismiss at 12:55 pm
Elementary Schools that begin at 9:25 am will dismiss at 1:20 pm
