We’re thankful for the opportunity to cohost the Military Naturalization Town Hall event this Sunday, Nov. 9 at 4pm PST, where we shined a light on the experiences of US military veterans navigating the naturalization process — and those that are deported or still fighting to come back home.

This was an opportunity to learn, reflect, and unite around solutions that honor the service and humanity of our US military veterans. 🎖️

We hope you’ll continue to listen to every veterans story and engage with our shared resources…

Another event series we love and recommend checking out!................................

"With ongoing efforts from political leaders to destroy social safety nets, censor free speech, silence marginalized communities, gut education, and erase history, we work to document and amplify the voices of people impacted by—and fighting against—injustice is increasingly vital. We hope the resources below can provide inspiration and solidarity in our collective resistance and work toward a future of freedom and dignity for all.

To our LA friends, recommend checking out this art exhibit event on Feb 15th at the Museum of Social Justice. MoSJ is a fantastic art venue our Excuse My Accent team was honored to collaborate with to cohost one of our private film screening events in 2022, for the Deported Veterans campaign.....................................................................

More on the exhibit:
'That Stubborn Resistance' is a group exhibition that takes you on a profound journey into decades of art that explores themes of historical memory, political struggle, and social justice--reminding us that today's fights for equity and inclusion are deeply connected to the legacies of the past.

This exhibition highlights 40 years of art, history, and activism by La Piedra Art Collective and its multilayered social and cultural contributions in Los Angeles and California. These artists are more than creators, they are narrators of the human experience. Their voices have been captured through oral histories taken by the Central American Historical and Ancestral Society (CAHAAS) to accompany the artworks.

The artists of La Piedra refuse to be silenced or erased, and their determination to honor their heritage while forging a life in a multicultural city like Los Angeles is a testament to the enduring strength of these artists and their communities.

You are invited to The Museum of Social Justice's new exhibition, That Stubborn Resistance, opens on Saturday, February 15, 2025. The opening reception will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. See you all there!

In the spirit of Dr. King, we will continue to choose love over hate, prioritizing empathy over indifference. Demanding that we rise to meet the challenges of our time with determination, hope, and an unwavering commitment to our shared humanity. It takes a collective.

Today, on , we are reminded of the power of community and the importance of uplifting voices that too often go unheard.

Excuse My Accent is a social purpose startup committed to inspiring representation through fearless storytelling and advocacy. By creating immersive experiences utilizing media and entertainment, we shape discourse, provoke thought, and ignite understanding that resonates across intercultural communities.

Our “Bring Them Home” film project is just one example of how we’re amplifying the experiences of deported US veterans, who gave everything for a country that turned its back on them.

In times like these when division runs deep, it is more crucial than ever to amplify marginalized voices. These veterans deserve more than the silence they’ve been met with—they deserve justice, recognition, and a chance to return home.

With your support, we can keep these stories alive, build awareness, and fuel the fight for change.

Please consider supporting our work this , and make a tax-deductible donation. Together, we can honor the promise made to these veterans and ensure they are not forgotten.

This Veterans Day, deported veterans are marching in New York City’s largest Veterans Day Parade, standing strong despite the threat of deportation.

This may be the last time these veterans can gather, and we need your help to make it possible.

We’ll be hosting a commemorative dinner and screening the films “Bring Them Home” and “American Exile” to amplify their stories.

Please support this endeavor by donating today. All donations are tax deductible.

Every contribution helps cover travel, lodging, and event costs.
