This is Kelli Bower! She is currently a senior at PLU. She was born and raised in Southern California and her first musical experience was in a Bell choir. Kelli’s church had two bell choirs at the time and she got to sit in on one rehearsal. That hour changed her life and she fell in love with music and joined the children's choir. Kelli enjoying being a part of a bell choir at PLU because it reminds her of the reasons why she teaches and enjoys music. She says the program is so welcoming to everyone and helps even none music readers get a chance at the "musical experience". What really is amazing is that this choir is a friendly community and has grown so much over the past year.

Meet PLU Ringers club officer and ensemble member, Logan Kropp! He is a senior music education major from Great Falls, Montana. Logan first became interested in bells by hearing the stories of his high school choir director directing a bell choir while she was in college. She claimed that they did music so crazy that they broke bells in the process! Logan had to find out what bell choir was like for his own. He enjoys ringing because it relieves stress and makes beautiful music.

Up next on our spotlight series is our wonderful director Dr. Linda Miller. Here’s what she had to say about her bell choir experience as well as why she enjoys handbell choirs:

I have been ringing handbells since 1975! I discovered handchimes in 1988 and have been using them in my teaching ever since. I love the sound of these instruments. I also value their accessibility for people who don't have extensive background or training in music.

First up on our spotlight of our bell members is the President of our club Phyllis Jenkins! Here’s what she had to say:

My name is Phyllis Jenkins, and I am currently a senior at PLU. I am originally from Montana, where bell choirs are not common-PLU was actually where I learned about bells. I love being a part of bell choir because of the uniqueness and diversity of the group! I have met people I would not have because of this group! It is inspiring to see the improvemnents made and the friendships that have blossemed because of it!
