So perfectly placed is the word “art” in the center of the word “earth”… one being a part of the other. On a beach walk or a trail hike, my eyes are often attracted by the many circular gifts of nature ~ stones, shells, bark, pods ...
When I observe circles in nature, I experience a sense of peace. One symbolic message of circles is wholeness. Whether created with a single line or an elaborate m

athematical design, they are whole, complete, and beautifully simple. I have incorporated circles into my art because I am attracted by their simplicity. By placing the concept of simplicity into my life, I have been able to experience the benefits of feeling whole … at peace. That said, I also believe circles represent the process of change. So even though something is whole or complete, that doesn’t mean they are finished. Their circular motion shows the objects of nature, including humans, are always changing. So as we strive for a peaceful existence, we also must accept the inevitable changes that come with it. I hope my art carries you to a sense of peace.
