Once again it’s JUNE-JI ITO month and our pick is another hit from the master of horror manga, Junji Ito! This time our pick is Alley, featuing a young man hears children playing outside his boarding house every night—but the alley below his window is fenced off from the world. Then, when a young woman’s family starts acting strangely at the same time she begins having bizarre dreams, she decides to stay with her aunt, but the town she heads for has neither addresses nor roads… Also, an all-you-can-eat ice cream bus that’s more sinister than sweet!

As always, there’s copies available (with a 15% discount) at our meet-up spot, here in Tacoma, and on their website KingsBookstore.com, and if you can’t meet in person, join us on our Discord’s video chat to discuss via the web!

We’re hyped to announce that May’s pick is The One Hand & The Six Fingers by Ram V, Dan Watters, Laurence Campbell, and Sumit Kumar.

This graphic novel is two mini-series, interwoven and put into reading order as alternating chapters.

Neo Novena detective, Ari Nasser is about to retire with an enviable record, until a brutal murder occurs, bearing all the hallmarks of the “One Hand Killer” …which should be impossible since Ari already put him away not once but twice in the years before.

What follows is a deadly cat-and-mouse game as Ari pursues his quarry down the rain-soaked streets of Neo Novena. Ari will stop at nothing to unravel the secrets and ciphers of this case, but each revelation only leads further into the dark heart of his future-metropolis and Ari’s own beleaguered soul.

Copies are available at our regular spot in here in Tacoma, and meetings take place in-person and via the video chat of our discord at 6pm on the last Thursday of each month.

A stunning coming-of-age graphic novel from cartoonist Barbara Mazzi, exploring the dystopian divide of class difference, the strength of human connection, and what truly makes the heart tick.

The Hourglass is called many things: the perfect machine, the source of all life, the fountain of youth. It promises immortal comfort to the privileged, but it also looms over its creators, trapping them in its cycle.
