Every light on the Tacoma Light Trail starts with an artist. 💡🩵

From glowing windows and projections to sculptures and surprise moments of wonder, artists bring the Tacoma Light Trail to life, imagining, designing, building, and installing every piece and their work deserves to be paid.

We are half way to our $5,000 goal to bring back the trail and raising funds through October 15. A gift of $25, $50, or $100 helps us get closer, and every contribution counts!

The Trail is free for everyone to enjoy. Let’s make sure the artists who create it are paid.

BEHIND EVERY LIGHT IS AN ARTIST. 💡❤️

When you walk Tacoma Light Trail, you see glowing windows, projections, sculptures and unexpected moments of wonder.

But here’s what we see:

An artist imagined it.
An artist designed it.
An artist built it.
An artist installed it.

And that artist deserves to be paid.

Today we’re declaring Support a Light Artist Day!

We’re currently at one fifth of our $5,000 goal, and we’re asking our community to help us close the gap by October 15.

$25 + $50 + $100 gifts add up quickly when Tacoma gets behind its artists.

The Trail is free. The artists shouldn’t have to work for free.

Tacoma Light Trail team attends a second year of diversity equity and inclusion workshops together. Thank you to Tacoma Creates and Jahmad Canley of Potential Unleashed for offering this 4 part series on JEDI work. These kind of resources and support makes Tacoma a stand out city. 🤩

The beautiful painting behind the team is the work of Tiffany Hammonds who is a Guest Art Curator for the Trail this year! Woohoo!

There’s a lot to be excited about for 2027! We’re partnering with Sound Transit and the T Line to launch “Ride the Light,” encouraging visitors to hop aboard and explore light art, neighborhoods, and local businesses along the route. We’re also planning new interactive and immersive light art experiences and bringing back Tacoma’s big, joyful, free all-ages New Year’s Eve celebration.
