Three audition days in November, and one deadline in October.

We're adding substitute and extra musicians to the roster — the players the Syracuse Orchestra calls when a program needs more than the regular section.

🎺 Monday, November 2: Horn, trumpet, bassoon, and oboe
🎷 Wednesday, November 4: Low brass, clarinet, saxophone, and viola
🎻 Monday, November 9: Flute, violin, cello, and bass

Applications are due Monday, October 5. Repertoire lists, requirements, and the application form are all at syracuseorchestra.org/career-opportunities?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=2627-auditions&utm_term=feed-post

If you play professionally and you're within driving distance of Syracuse, it's worth ten minutes this week. And if you know somebody who should be on this list, forward it. That's usually how these get filled.

The season starts here.

Six Masterworks concerts. Six Pops nights. Candlelight, Casual, and three shows built for kids. A season's worth of evenings that only happen once.

It begins outside, on the grass, in September — a picnic at Carol Watson Greenhouse with the gardens still in bloom and music at sunset.

Then the doors open downtown and we go all the way through to May.

Come find out what a night at the orchestra is actually like.

Recapture the magic of summer before autumn settles in.

Music. A picnic on the grass. A greenhouse full of flowers. And a symphony of delightful conversation.

The September Soirée is our last vestige of summer — one long, golden evening at Carol Watson Greenhouse on Thursday, September 17.

Arrive at 5:30 and wander the greenhouse while the light is still high. Choose your spot on the lawn. Bring your own food and drinks, and a chair to settle into.

There's an optional picnic contest at 6:00, with prizes, for anyone who wants to make an occasion of their spread.

At 7:00, our Woodwind Ensemble plays as the sun goes down over the gardens.

$25. Come celebrate the beauty of late summer and early fall with us, and bring someone you'd like to spend an evening beside.
