Congratulations to second-year DMA student Kyra Mariah Stahr, who has been named the incoming Assistant Teaching Professor at the Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University!
Kyra Stahr is a visionary conductor, educator, and vocalist passionate about the transformative power of choral music. A DMA candidate in Choral Conducting at the University of Miami, she has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Assistant Conductor Fellow for the GRAMMY®-nominated Seraphic Fire. At Miami, Stahr was Instructor of Record for Choral Conducting I and II and directed the premier treble ensemble, Bella Voce. She believes in the transformative power of choral singing and motivates ensembles with authenticity, courage, and determination.
An active guest conductor, clinician, and presenter, she has shared her expertise at national and international conferences, including the World Symposium on Choral Music, TMEA, and the 2025 ACDA National Conference. Stahr was also selected for the 2025 ACDA National Graduate Conducting Masterclass. She holds an M.M. in Choral Music from the University of Southern California and a B.M. in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Miami University. Stahr co-founded and co-hosts the podcast conduct(her) with her sister McKenna Stenson. Conduct(her) amplifies the voices of women conductors and composers while exploring the gender divide in the choral music field. She is thrilled to join the Setnor School of Music faculty at Syracuse University this fall!
