✨ A NEW CHAPTER ✨
After a lot of thought, I’ve decided it’s time for a little change.
Before I officially introduce Maggie Mullins Studio, I wanted to share the story behind the name I’ve used for so many years: Monarch Wingz. 🦋
The name actually started with a tattoo.
When I was younger, I spent over a year in foster care. Coming home after finally getting out was supposed to be such a happy moment, but that same night, I lost my grandma. I had missed her terribly while I was away, and coming home to find out she was sick, only to lose her while I was asleep, is something I’ve carried with me ever since.
I got a monarch butterfly tattoo on my right shoulder in memory of her. To me, it became more than just a tattoo. It was a little reminder of her, and I loved the idea that wherever I went, a piece of her would always be with me—almost like she was still following along, watching over me, and never really too far away. 🦋
Years later, when I was making a new PlayStation account after getting together with Derek, I wanted a completely new username. I looked at that tattoo and thought about what it meant to me, and Monarch Wingz was born. Eventually, I started using it everywhere—my gamer tag, my art, and eventually this page.
So even though I’m changing the name, Monarch Wingz will always mean something to me. It was there during a really important part of my life, and it became attached to so many memories and pieces of art that I’m proud of.
But as my art has grown and changed, so have I.
So I’m taking the next step and putting my own name behind my work:
Maggie Mullins Studio 🎨
This will still be a place for my paintings, handmade pieces, experiments, and whatever creative ideas I find myself falling in love with along the way.
I’m not leaving the butterfly behind. 🦋
I’m just carrying what it means with me into the next chapter.
