Danielle Chandler sees the face as the source of connection.

In her studio, .by_danielle uses clay to capture presence and explore the textures of vulnerability. Her current work focuses on the human figure as she is fascinated by storytelling, revealing the emotional journey of being human. Chandler’s practice investigates how expression bridges the gap when words fall short, subtly reminding us that we are instinctively drawn to faces.

Artist Spotlight: Teddy Berg (.berg)

Teddy Berg (b. 1998, Detroit) is an artist inspired by the paradoxes of language and the ineffable. He approaches painting and writing as a single category of physical mark-making, using these practices alongside personal rituals to explore how non-dualistic interpretations of meaning and media can result in ecstatic spiritual experiences.

“The problem with ineffability is not ‘how can we ever talk about it?,’ but rather ‘how can we ever not be talking about it?’. How can we ever shut up?”

Please join us for the opening reception of Harsh is Where We Live, a Syracuse University MFA Exhibition at Microscope Gallery in New York City on March 12th, from 6-8pm.
