The Appleseed Academy The Appleseed Academy provides free pre-professional theater training to Central New York teens!

The Appleseed Academy is a year round free program designed specifically for Central New York teens who are interested in developing their talents. Academy Members acquire pre-professional theatrical skills in a safe and supportive space. They learn to think critically and collaboratively in an environment where they are encouraged to experiment and make bold risky choices. Academy members learn a

bout the discipline of theater by being involved with the entire process of putting on a show. From performing to directing, stage managing to stage design, light & sound design, film making, costuming, music, script writing skills, and more, our teens have the opportunity to get real world experience and training on and off stage from dynamic and seasoned instructors. Academy members come from all over Upstate New York and have a variety of backgrounds. Currently, The Academy includes students from multiple city and suburb school districts as well as home schooled students. We cater to beginners as well as more experienced members and encourage all who are interested to join us!

Syracuse Stage will be holding auditions for local children ages 9-13 for the roles of Scout, Jem and Dill in "To Kill a Mockingbird." Auditions will be held at Syracuse Stage, 820 E. Genesee St., on Oct. 5 and 6. To schedule an appointment, call Chris Botek at 315-443-4008.

We are sad to have lost one of our members this past Saturday. Connor was an original member of The Academy and was a part of the Academy's production of Bang Bang You're Dead in 2013. He was a big part of the Academy, and volunteered regularly for Appleseed & Rarely Done both on and off stage. The Appleseed Academy extends our condolences to his family and friends and wish them love and peace in this difficult time.
