Long Island Theatre Collective

Long Island Theatre Collective We are stories. LITC brings new and surprising performances to our community.

We create cutting-edge adaptations of classic texts—and make those stories new again. We produce visceral modern plays from contemporary voices such as McDonagh, Shepard, and yet-unknown work from the next generation of storytellers right here on Long Island.

From the madcap brain of Pulitzer-winning playwright of Stephen Adly Gurgis comes an early comedy about survival, theft, and donuts!

Maggie is a young single woman trying to change her life. She and her sponsor Paul are part of a twelve-step program intended to help recovering thieves. When Maggie’s no-good ex arrives and tells them about a large sum of unguarded drug money, she and Paul give into their lesser instincts and decide to assist in the robbery. They are joined by Flaco (the ex)’s new girlfriend-- a stripper with a third-grade reading level and a healthy dose of attitude. Predictably, things don’t go according to plan.

The Collective Theatre Company is heartbroken in mourning the loss of one of our greatest friends and collaborators, Emily Gladstein. Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones. Emily had a unique perspective on everything and was one of the warmest, supportive and hardworking people all of us have ever met. Her enthusiasm fueled whatever project she was working on.

We were incredibly fortunate to have Emily on board for Motherf$&?er With the Hat, Night of the Living Dead, Suburbia, ACME, Blackbird and our last two Fall Festivals. Whether it was stage managing the entire production, assistant stage managing, or just picking up a paint brush because she wanted to help out, the void that she fills in our hearts is immeasurable.

Emily pushed herself, and others around her to be better theatre makers, better artists, and better people. We are happy to know that her legacy will be remembered by the many that she worked with. Until we all meet again, Emily.
