Friday May 29 at 6:00 pm — El Pachuco Car Club presents a lowrider and classic car show in front of the AMP Building
Saturday May 30 at 12:00 pm — “The Music and Fashion of Zoot Suit “ — Panel led by Prof. Gustavo Jimenez (Chicano Studies, LA Mission) with Dr. Jorge Leal (History, UC Riverside). Free event!
Saturday May 30 at 7:00 pm — Zoot Suiter night! Fill the house with pachuco and pachuca style

Another week of sold-out Zoot Suit performances in the books! 🎟️Enthusiastic crowds enjoyed a pre-show taco truck courtesy of Birrieria La Mera Mera and a dance performance by Grupo Folklorico Huitzillin. We were honored to have Mike Gomez in the audience. Gomez played Joey Castro in the 1978 production, the Broadway transfer, and in the 1981 film. School groups from North Hollywood High, Academy of Scientific Exploration, LAHSA, and incarcerated youths from Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Detention Center and Camp Afflerbaugh

Week 2 of Zoot Suit started with a bang last night. Our first pre-show panel discussion—“Zoot Suit in Popular Culture”—was standing room only, led by Professor Gustavo Jimenez, and featured Henry Barajas (author, “Death to Pachuco” graphic novel, and our two student dramaturgs, Ana Borrego and David Carrera. Then, another sold-out house responded with laughter, tears, and hoots and hollers to this beautiful show. Student groups from ArTES Arts Magnet in Sylmar and John C. Fremont High School in South Central packed the mezzanine.

The opening night of Zoot Suit was a hit! 🌟 Last night brought together a full house of lucky patrons who scored tickets, artists, business leaders, elected officials, LA Mission admins, and a pair of superfans who drove from Fresno for their 13th Zoot Suit. Congratulations to the cast and crew on a spectacular performance 👏🏽
