We are a little over two weeks away! Make sure to register before it is too late!

Sweetwater’s Shakespeare in the Park will hold auditions on July 27 & 28 for the upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.” The play will be performed October 23rd through the 25th: Friday at 7 PM, Saturday at 7 PM, and Sunday at 2 PM.

Three witches tell the Scottish general Macbeth that he will be King of Scotland. Encouraged by his wife, Macbeth kills the king, becomes the new king, and kills more people out of paranoia. Civil war erupts to overthrow Macbeth, resulting in more death.

Sweetwater High School graduate, Dale Gross, will direct the production.

Auditions will be held in the basement of Sweetwater's City Hall (203 Monroe St, Sweetwater, TN 37874).

Auditions are by appointment only. Auditionees may choose from the following appointment times on both days: 4:30 PM, 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM, and 6:30 PM. There are five slots per half hour. ONLY 50 people will be allowed to audition.

There are approximately 22 available roles, including excellent roles for both men and women. People ages 14 (or entering 9th grade) and Up may audition.

Auditionees should prepare a monologue from a Shakespearean history or tragedy. NO Comedies! Choose an appropriate monologue with large theatrical ranges, preferably from a published play. Monologues will be evaluated on multiple theatrical factors. Monologues CANNOT be from “Macbeth.”

All actors will be asked to list all conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. The director will make every attempt to work around conflicts, whenever possible, but please note that attendance at some rehearsals and at all performances is mandatory for participation.

Rehearsals will begin on Thursday, August 6th and continue through Thursday, October 22nd. Actors should expect to attend most rehearsals. Tech rehearsals on October 15, 18, 19, 20, and 22 are mandatory. Actors must also be available for all 3 regular performances: October 23rd through the 25th, Friday through Sunday.
