Niweskok is happy to host another language gathering for pαnawαhpskewi-alαtəwéwαkan (Penobscot Language) during the weekend of September 25th to the 27th.

This gathering is for Penobscot language speakers, learners, and their families.

Over the weekend, we will rotate through games, cooking, script writing, conversation practice, and other activities designed to support everyone at their own level.

Join Niweskok for a blueberry harvest in Appleton at an organically managed wild blueberry barren. These particular barrens were burned two years ago with Wabanaki as part of a TNC fire-crew to re-introduce cultural fire management to the land. Traditional fire management is an integral part of Wabanaki lifeways, and we are grateful to be able to bring the Wabanaki community out to be part of the cycle of abundance that our relationship with fire as a relative brings us. Come enjoy kinship out on the barrens and harvest sahtal (blueberries) to bring home and share with community.

Clamming & Beach Clambake in Brooklin, July 19, 2026 - Registration
✨ This Event is for Wabanaki and Their Families ✨

Hey Relatives! We’re heading back to the coast in Brooklin for clamming and a clambake again this year in collaboration with Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness. Last year was great weather and good eats and we can't wait to do it again.

Wabanaki and their families are invited to spend time together—harvesting clams from the mudflats, steaming them over seaweed in a traditional beach clambake, and sharing stories, language, good food, and a day by the ocean. This gathering is located at a culturally significant area where Penobscot and Passamaquoddy territories meet—a longtime gathering place for all Wabanaki Nations. We’re excited to carry on this tradition together! There are many ways to participate so come all day or show up when it feels right for you!

Food and gas cards will be provided.
Space is limited! If you register and your plans change, please let us know so someone else can join.
