If I’m being honest, being an aspiring artist is a lot of messy, beautiful, frustrating, and joyful moments all at once. 🎨

Some days, you feel like you’re crushing it. Other days, a single brushstroke makes your heart skip a beat. You start to doubt yourself, question if your art is “good enough” or if you’ll ever get paid doing what you love.

👉 Here’s what I wish someone had told me when I was starting out: It’s okay for art to take time, for mistakes to happen, and for inspiration to come when you least expect it.

Keep showing up. Keep creating. And don’t forget to enjoy the messy, imperfect journey; it’s all part of being an artist. 🖼️

If I’m going to be honest, I was dreading my birthday this year. This age.

There’s something so real and scary about being 30, so “adult,” so “have-your-sh*t together.” My 20s have been full of ups and downs, but to be honest, these are the years that I’ve learned the most about myself.

I’ve been reflecting a lot the past few days on the messiness, the growth spurts, the heartbreaks, the risks I didn’t want to take but did anyway. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade any of it.

👉 So here are 10 things my 20s taught me; the lessons that shaped me, stretched me, and brought me right here to 30: a little scared, a lot grateful, and finally feeling like I’m becoming the person I’m meant to be.

Holding onto fall for as long as I can… 🍂🎨

I’m excited to share my fall-inspired watercolor series, capturing the colors, textures, and spirit of the season. Each piece tells its own little story:

☁️ Ominous Meadow – moody skies and golden grasses
🌻 Pumpkin Flowers – Sunflowers, bright, cheerful blooms in autumn light
🌺 Pumpkin Flowers – Hibiscus, a touch of tropical warmth among fall tones
🍁 Autumn in Traverse City – crisp air and vibrant foliage
🌼 Pumpkin Flowers – Daisies, simple, charming bursts of color
🦅 Autumn Mist – soft, dreamy landscapes
💜 Pumpkin Flowers – Lavender, calm, soothing purple accents

Each piece is available for purchase on my website and also comes framed, ready to bring fall into your home.

Which one captures fall for you the most?

With so many new faces around, I thought I’d take a moment to reintroduce myself and share my story! 👋

I’m Alex, an artist, lifelong horse lover, and believer in practicing mindfulness.

My love for horses began when I was ten, at a summer camp that completely changed my world. From that day on, they became my grounding force through both the highs of competition and the quiet moments of self-doubt that often come with it.

When my sweet Bianca retired and Razzle passed, I stepped away from the saddle while my youngest, Lyra, finishes her training. That pause created unexpected space in my life, and I filled it with art. 🎨

Painting horses has become my way of staying close to them. I love capturing the soft flick of an ear, the light in their eyes, and the beauty in small, everyday barn moments that often go unnoticed.

Horses have a way of healing hearts, and for me, painting is how I honor that connection.

If you’re new here, welcome! I’m so glad you’ve found your way to my little corner of the internet. You can explore more of my work and even commission your own custom piece through the link in bio. ✨
