Käthe Kollwitz is in my personal Pantheon of artists, and her etching “Outbreak”, for me, is right up there with a later state of Rembrandt’s three crosses, and only second to her “Woman With A Dead Child” . The commanding rage of “Black Anna’s” pose while leading the Great German Peasant Revolt is as haunting as it is inspiring.

I needed something to print to make sure the press tune-up was all good, and so I did a quick nod in monotype to a brain/soul shattering piece.

So, I’ve been doing some teaching! And facilitating of activities, and generally working to spread the good word of printmaking!

I taught a monotype workshop at the Westport Art Group to some fun characters who ventured out in the snow. Thanks to for attending, making some great work, and taking photos!

I also helped some wonderfully quirky and equally twisted folks make some cards for their valentines at Interwoven Art Studio. We learned about carving stamps from erasers, and I got to introduce folks to the joys of Letraset rub on lettering. It was a wonderful group collaboration with .m.fazio .nb and
