Penrose Triangle
* Impossibility: Impossible object, a visual paradox that our brains try to interpret as a 3D object, even though it's fundamentally inconsistent.
* Origins: Creation to Oscar Reutersvärd and its popularization to Roger Penrose. It's important to note that while Penrose brought it to wider attention, Reutersvärd created it first.
* Escher's Influence: M.C. Escher's artwork played a significant role in showcasing and popularizing impossible figures like the Penrose Triangle, often incorporating them into his intricate and mind-bending lithographs.
* Appearance: "three straight sections of square sections joined together at straight angles" is a good way to visualize its construction. It looks like it should be a solid object, but the way the sections connect is what creates the illusion of impossibility.
