Here’s the headline: if we can get at least 15 people to commit and sign up, we will throw a going-away party in October for the paintball field. Any less and we call it quits with our September game being the last one we do.
As some of you may or may not have heard, Aaron and myself have decided not to pursue another year at our current location in Sutherlin. There are a few reasons for this which I’ll get into down below.
We are looking for a new place to play! If you or somebody you know has some woods they don’t mind us playing in, we would love to work something out to be out there. If we are able to find a new place to play, the “Club” will keep going. In its current location however, it will not.
The biggest reason for us leaving is that we no longer feel safe gathering at the field anymore. Im sure all of you have noticed the junk cars that are constantly at our field. Those don’t have anything to do with us -a friend of our landlord has a business scrapping junk cars and he needed a place to park them. So our landlord said that he could park them at the field. We have tried to make it work, but we have had constant break-ins at the field since they have been out there. I’ve had to kick out tweakers who have broken in, and the junk car guy has said he’s found pipes and other drug stuff out there by the cars. That’s seriously uncool, and frankly I’m tired of dealing with it and worrying about something bad happening.
The other part behind our decision is that we have not had many good turnouts in the three years since Aaron, Ray and I took things over from Perry. We are super grateful for all of our community, and especially the few people who are at the field every time we have an open day. While it’s never been about money for us, putting in as much work as we do at the field for just a handful of people to come out is pretty discouraging. On top of seeing the rows of junk cars when we drive by, it is heartbreaking and we have decided that it would be best for us to move on.
We had a great turnout last weekend when Perry was here, and i really want to thank you all for that. It was a wonderful day and everybody had a great time. That certainly would be a good note to end things on, but we have also decided that it might be good to give the field a proper goodbye.
We are going to throw at least one more woodsball only day on Sunday, October 15th! The condition is that we need at least 15 people to commit to going without backing out. If we have enough people that want to come out then we will make it happen. If we don’t, then our September game will have been the last one out there. We will make an event on Facebook, PLEASE click the “going” button if you’ll be there! You can also just tell me and that works too. Same cheap prices as always, just in it to have fun!
