Dear friends of music and the Barn,

We have certainly had our share of winter weather! I hope you are all well and staying warm. Here at the Barn, we have been planning an exciting 2026 season that will begin in June and run through September.

Last year, we hosted nearly 40 events—concerts, art exhibitions, and more—including a Japanese Taiko drum ensemble that performed and danced in traditional Japanese costumes.
The Surry Music Barn is unique in its international legacy. Over the years, we have been particularly strong in presenting Russian, Japanese, and Georgian music, as well as traditional repertoire from Germany, France, Italy and other countries. We also take great pride in showcasing exceptionally talented performers from more remote cultures, giving our concert offerings both range and depth.

At this time of year, we look forward to the return of milder weather, though winter has not yet fully released its hold. In the coming weeks, we will begin sharing updates with you more regularly.

We very much welcome your thoughts and ideas as we plan our 2026 season, and we look forward to keeping you informed as details come together.

Until then, please stay warm and well.

With best wishes,

Alan

We hope you enjoyed a meaningful and joyful holiday season. We took a short break from Surry Barn—but we’re happy to share that planning for our 2026 season is underway!
We’re looking ahead to an exciting summer and would love nothing more than to welcome you back in warmer weather. At this time, we anticipate opening our 2026 season in June, with a format similar to past years—along with some wonderful surprises. We plan to feature both returning favorites and new talents from near and far.
Our upcoming season will celebrate music and the arts that move, inspire, and enrich.
In 2025, we hosted more than 40 performances and events, and we are deeply grateful for the artists, musicians, and dancers who bring life to the Barn. Our audiences are of equal importance.
Ticket sales alone never cover the cost of these performances, so as we prepare for the new season, we’ll once again invite your financial support—large or small. One step at a time.
Just as important as funding, community is another essential pillar. Planning and coordinating 30+ events takes many hands, and we truly think of you as our “village.” We’re excited to invite you to take part in a volunteer advisory committee that will help shape the season ahead.
We can’t wait to share what’s coming—and to see you again soon.

Office manager / artistic consultant - Part-time position involving two different projects: one being a performing arts venue housed in an old Maine coastal barn, the other project being help with the management of short-term rentals on the same property. It is possible that one person could attend to both projects.

There are a total of seven buildings on the property. This position might lead to some hands-on management of the rentals. However, there are designated housekeeping staff, so this position does not entail housekeeping of any kind.

In relation to Surry Arts, we seek somebody with social media and basic internet skills as well as someone with familiarity with Apple computers. This is a part-time position that might be expanded. Pay / fee will be commensurate with skills and experience. Please email Alan at [email protected]. Property website here: https://surryartsandevents.com/

Pay per hour and the number of hours are flexible dependent on applicant’s set of skills and experience. Please contact Alan at 207 667 1308 or by email at [email protected]
