Art makes the best souvenir to remember a trip abroad. It holds memories as well as emotion, and captures a feel from a different part of the world than the one you came from. These two prints came back with my client from a trip to Japan. I think we're both over the moon with how they came out! I noticed that both came with artist's statements, but illegible to us in Japanese kanji. So, I ran them through a quick translation, printed them out, and enveloped both for the back of the frames. That way, the artists she chose to memorialize her trip can be just a little bit more known to her.

I've been thinking quite a bit about this old needlepoint I framed. My client's grandma needlepointed this classic Greek saying some time before she passed and it's been carried around since, waiting to resurface. It roughly translates to "Bean by bean, the bag is filled."
We had a conversation about how that applies to saving and building wealth, as we designed the frame, so obviously we ended up with metallic green and gold mats, evoking our own riches. But it really can pertain to achieving anything with intentionality, little by little... much like the very needlepoint she marked it upon. Stitch by stitch.

It's a wonderful life lesson, but not a saying I had the pleasure of growing up with. Are any of my Greek friends familiar with this? Anyone else remember their yaya saying this, growing up?

Anastasia Karos? Katina Brady ?

How would you like to purchase an original piece of art, already professionally framed, AND support a great cause???

We have a fully furnished gallery wall of original art by Tony Marra. Upon losing his infant granddaughter to Leigh's Syndrome(AKA Mito), he channeled his grief into creating a huge series of palmetto trees. Now we are using that art to spread awareness and raise money towards curing Mito.

Each piece was created with consideration for sustainability, using recycled materials, and eco friendly paints. Even the frames I selected for each piece are second-hand, made from cutoffs from other custom framing orders, or milled out of reclaimed wood from around Horry County.

If you would like to help us save lives and purchase a piece, you can message me directly or come into the frame shop to see them in person. There will also be an album on my page with each individual piece for sale, which will update as more are framed and sold.

Learn more about Leigh's Syndrome or donate in a more direct manner by visiting CureMito.org or Cure MITO Foundation

Check out Tony and follow how he is using his art for the greater good in his community an beyond at Pasquali Paints A FairyTale From The South, PasQuali Marra

We did a few things different for this patriotic little trio of cross-stitches!

We wanted to design them to hang together and make it really easy to set up and take down every year. So, we figured out an arrangement, picked out coordinating frames, than randomized it by mixing up the outer frames(for balance!)
Next, I pulled out some hardware we don't use much--Frame Connectors! With them, we can make a solid collage out of smaller frames.
But we didn't stop there. We wanted this to be able to stand on a table or hang on a wall, without having to buy a dedicated easel. It can hang from the sawtooth screwed into the middle frame, or it can stand with the easel mates installed in the outer frames. The legs on the easel mates slide out of the metal channels as well, so it will lay flat on the wall or store away flat between seasons.

It was fun throwing so many tricks at one project like this!

Just in case anyone was wondering about that huge needlepoint I was lacing one day... It went in a canvas float frame so you could see every single stitch! Gold face with whitewashed interior and exterior walls. I think it gave her a very elevated coastal vibe!

Happy 4th of July weekend and 250th birthday, USA!

I had a very special cross-stitch come in this week in honor of this important celebration, but it will take me a hot minute to complete the vision we have for it. I was hoping to frame a Mirabilia "Lady of the Flag" and sure enough, one of the best stitchers I know worked her up in stunning fashion! It will be a belated finish on my part, but 1000% worth following to see when it's done. For now, I reached back into the archives to find this other patriotic little morsel to share with you all.

Everyone stay safe and have fun this weekend!

What's cooking in the frame shop this rainy afternoon?

Felt like sharing a small piece of my manic brain today since I have my hands on too many things. Yeah, I could show you another something from the hoard of other polished final pics, but today I am admiring two giant canvases I just stretched(48"x72" and 40"x60"), aptly working on lacing an enormous needlepoint that I also built strainer bars to support(20"x40"), and I am joined in glorious company by this life-sized beaded impala head who came in for framing design today. We have great plans for him... and other pieces that came at the same time!

Finished reframing this old cross stitch a little while ago. I love the stitcher's ex*****on because it was completed on two different colors of aida cloth, stitched together. Was originally framed in neutral browns and cream with a traditional dome cut, but we re-envisioned it in greens for a fresh take, and added a little notch on the new dome cut. Oriental bamboo frame for an oriental kitty!

Can I frame a crochet? Yeah, of course! A crochet blanket?! Let's do it! These 3d animal granny squares turned out so cute, it was a wonderful idea to frame it to enjoy, rather than throw it over a chair.
