Cherry Glass is a family-owned glassblowing business in Northern Minnesota. We are a group of artists that create magnificent pieces using organic material. We add real insects to our art by electroforming them in copper and applying them onto our glass pieces. We have three months of summer to collect bugs where we live, so when the season is done, and critters start to die off we collect them. We have also had some shipped to us from collectors and friends! We also incorporate crystals, stones, and Brazilian agate slabs in our work and connect everything together with different color patinas. We Give Life A Second Chance As Art! We have plated the following organic material: Butterflies Dragonflies Spiders Scorpions Snakes Bats Praying Mantis Hornets Cicadas House Flies Flowers Stones Bones/Skulls Starfish Sea Horse Shells Sea Fan We send artist bios, and description cards with the insects, and organic pieces. You display them in your store, and send it with the customer after they purchase the piece. This also helps you, and your sales associates when you are busy with other customers. The buyer can read the card, that describes what they are looking at. Scot started blowing glass in 2002. After a four year apprenticeship under Andy Gregorich (A.G Rice Lake, WI), Scot started Cherry Glass in 2006. In 2012 his mother, Linda Bennett started collaborating with electroforming real bugs, stones, and working with patinas with his pieces. Scot's wife Ryan, and Travis Andrews (Oxbow Art Effects Iron, MN), are also contributing artists.
