There’s this shop in Sun Valley. It’s full of art by local artists. It consists of their so called - Independent goods. Next to each piece is a typed up description of the artists story, location in the state, and what their piece consists of. I walk a lot in this town. Probably more than I would like if I’m being honest. Alone, long, in the snow, rain, and finally now crisp spring. I walked by this store on a winter night. The lights dimmed low and the art reflecting its different textiles. How unique would it be to walk through life holding yourself to be an independent good. “Hi: I’m Madeline! Independent and good(;”
Not quite like that.... but holding yourself accountable. To do the work, understand your flaws, and maybe explain your story. Just like that shop. You don’t judge a piece of art ever, if you know every single pieces story. I’ve started to follow that rule with people. Perhaps, if I read a 3x 5 card on why they are what they are. I wouldn’t find a reason to judge their story by its cover. Imagine each individual has a 3X 5 card we’ve never read. Heading into vacation soon and trying to remain as an independent good. 🌙Night.
