These bad boy packs, named the Big Ernie, will be hitting the streets for fire in early 2021.
I would have to say hands down the best fire pack I’ve used. They’re great for anyone in aviation, be it Helitack or Jumpers (as they were designed as a jumper pack). And they are a lot less hot out on the line.
And since these packs break down so small and don’t have the rigid yolk, they’re great for Engine folks, too, who fight the ongoing limited-compartment-space-war.
Additionally, if you travel commercial airlines to fire assignments as much as I and other AK folks do, they fit easily in a duffle bag for securing purposes.

Contemplating the comprehension of fire and philosophy in life, and where the two meet, is healthy and similar to understanding the wind’s diurnal changes on a ridge.
Time with observation and experience is required. But even then, it’s up for debate.
