Just a PSA to follow your gut and be your horses’ advocate with vet work. If you think they aren’t being urgent enough or doing enough, go somewhere that will have that urgency and make your horse a priority!! I’ve been running around trying to get my mare the right treatment and help since June. Turns out something huge wasn’t seen or addressed surgically immediately and now my horse that had a huge future in the barrel world may be crippled. She had surgery yesterday but outlook is not great.
I’m heartbroken and am angry at myself for not advocating enough. Even though I know I did everything I thought to do and followed veterinary advice. Her tendon was CUT. I was told it was intact upon the initial visit. And trusted that. There is a CHANCE she could come out of this but it’s still going to be a long long recovery and she may still be a broodmare. 💔💔
