Who was Minato Namikaze's true rival? Because Minato became Hokage at such a young age and died shortly afterward, he never had a long-running rivalry like Naruto and Sasuke. Still, a few shinobi stand out.

First is Orochimaru. Both were candidates to become the Fourth Hokage, but Minato was ultimately chosen. While Orochimaru clearly viewed Minato as competition, there was never a personal rivalry between them.

Second is Fugaku Uchiha. As head of the Uchiha clan, Fugaku was one of Konoha's most respected shinobi and was even considered by some as a Hokage candidate. Although fans often compare them, the series never confirms that they saw each other as rivals.

The strongest case is the Fourth Raikage, A. During the Third Great Ninja War, the two repeatedly clashed on the battlefield. Their battles became legendary, with the Raikage's incredible speed constantly being measured against Minato's Flying Thunder God Technique.

Of the three, the Fourth Raikage is the closest thing Minato ever had to a true rival.
