THE IMPROVABLES ARE BACK!!!
The ImproVables, Sun Lakes Community Theatre's
comedy improv troupe, will perform at Sun Lakes
Country Club on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022. Doors open at
5:00 pm. Tickets for the show and a buffet dinner are
$25 and will be available for purchase at the
Administrative Office of Sun Lakes Country Club in
early January.
The ImproVables provide an evening's worth of non-
stop laughter. Improvisational comedy relies on
suggestions and ideas from the audience. The
performers then create scenes and sketches based on
these suggestions and all off the top of their heads.
There are no scripts and no rehearsal!
The ImproVables had a two year hiatus due to the
pandemic. Now they are back and ready to entertain!
The newly re-organized troupe of 20 performers is
comprised of former members and members who are
new to the art of improv. "We meet and practice every
Monday morning," states Phyllis Novy, one of the
troupe's founders. "It is a joy to begin each week with
laughter."

On two consecutive Tuesdays in March, 2021, Phyllis Novy led classes in Storytelling for interested SLCT members on Zoom. The first class learned about the art of Storytelling and what comprises a quality story. Also conveyed were tips on performance and ideas for personal narratives. The second class was the Storytelling itself. Each member told a brief personal narrative. They were all interesting, revealing, and delightful. The personal journey through memory and experience was enjoyable and the members became closer through the sharing process.

Sun Lakes Community Theatre had its last General Membership Zoom Meeting of the season. Members did a short script reading, a few members told jokes, members told stories from our Storytelling class, and they also presented a sketch comedy written by Howard Hummel. Our new season will begin this summer with shows in July and November (pandemic permitting). Please visit the SLCT website for ongoing information.
