Thank you to the Frank and Lydia Bergen Foundation for your continued support of NJIO’s free concerts!

Their grant of $10,000 helps offset the costs of our staff, venue rentals, and all the other little things that make our concerts successful. That means we can continue offering our concerts for free for all to enjoy!

Turns out, orchestra is good for your health!

Loneliness takes a real toll on our minds and bodies, and research keeps showing that making art together helps. In the UK, doctors and social workers can actually “prescribe” arts participation, time in nature, or volunteering. It’s called social prescribing.

A 2018 review of more than 80 of these programs found patients boosted their confidence, self-esteem, and mood, plus they experienced less anxiety and depression.

We humans need each other, and making art together is even BETTER! That’s what our concert season is all about, and it’s why our no-audition, intergenerational orchestras have thrived for over 30 years.

See you soon. Doctor’s orders!

We are so glad to officially introduce you to our new Member and Volunteer Manager, Meghan Carroll!

Meghan is a K-8 general music teacher in Elizabeth by day, and also has experience working with adults with disabilities. She has the perfect personality to help everyone feel welcome and cared for— you’re going to love her!

Meghan will gradually be taking over responsibility for member services, registration, volunteers, and the concert lobby management as our longtime and much beloved Administrator Mary Beth retires at the end of 2026. Please be patient with all of us during this transition.

Welcome to the team, Meghan! Say hi and congrats on the comments, everyone!

Only three weeks until our first rehearsal and just over 2 months to our first concert… are we on your calendar? 🗓️

In our 33rd season, we are featuring music that bring us together in many different ways. Honoring and remembering friends, holding together through hardships, and celebrating our love for each other. It’s what makes us human!

All of NJIO’s concerts are free to attend in person or live streamed. Stay tuned as we feature more and more details on each concert.

Taking a moment to say THANK YOU to the New Jersey State Council on the Arts for your continued support of NJIO!

NJSCA provides multi-year flexible funding that helps NJIO make the music happen. We couldn’t do what we do without this support.

Did you know that NJSCA funding comes from the Hotel/Motel Occupancy Fee in addition to federal grants? Public support for the arts requires creative solutions!
