Welcome to NJIO’s new look!
At 33 years young, it was time for our first professionally designed logo. So here’s a little tour…
We wanted a logo that feels musical, joyful, and approachable— just like us! Thanks to a group of NJIO staff, board, and volunteers, we charged Kerstin of 501c Design to create us a look that reflects who we are.
The process was long, complicated, and not without disagreement. But now we look how we feel!
The “O” is the focus on this logo, just like orchestra is the focus for our organization. Rounded friendly letters make us look more approachable, not a stiff and formal orchestra. The logo is colorful without looking childish (though we love kids, we aren’t JUST for kids).
The “petals” show the diversity of our music, musicians, and mission, while still being unified around the orchestra. And there’s 8 of them: an octave!
Thank you to our Rebranding Committee, the Eisner Foundation for a special grant to support this work, and to our wonderful designer Kerstin Vogdes Diehn of 501c Design!
Comment below with what you think of our new logo! What do the “petals” look like to you? A horn blasting sound? An eye opening? People connected to each other by the orchestra?
