✨ Front Lines to the Home Front Cast Spotlight: Nereida Quiles-Wasserman ✨

As we celebrate the 250th Birthday of the United States, we’re honored to spotlight the performers helping bring America’s stories to life in Front Lines to the Home Front.

Meet Nereida Quiles-Wasserman!

Nereida returns to Front Lines to the Home Front after appearing in the 2024 production. Since retiring to Summerville, she has enjoyed becoming even more involved in the community while pursuing her many interests and passions.

Before retirement, Nereida enjoyed a successful career in New York spanning both higher education and the business sector, while also dedicating her time and talents to nonprofit organizations. Many Flowertown Players patrons may also recognize her as a former member of the theater’s Board of Directors.

Nereida enjoys participating in Flowertown Players productions, gardening, cooking, and spending quality time with family and friends.

We are delighted to have Nereida back on stage helping us celebrate America’s story through music, history, and community during this special 250th anniversary year.

The Broadway Dance Lab is coming to The Flowertown Players beginning July 13, and there are still spots available for young performers ages 7-9!

Led by Olivia Aldridge, an accomplished musical theatre performer and educator, this exciting class introduces students to the fundamentals of Broadway-style dance while building confidence, creativity, coordination, and stage presence. Olivia brings both professional performance experience and a passion for arts education, creating a fun and encouraging environment where young performers can thrive.

Whether your child dreams of center stage or simply loves to move and groove, Broadway Dance Lab is the perfect opportunity to explore the magic of musical theatre through dance.

Meet Monica Shows!

After more than 30 years volunteering with The Flowertown Players, Monica continues sharing her passion for storytelling as the writer and director of Front Lines to the Home Front.

This year marks the eighth production of the show, which combines letters from major wars, music, and moments from history into a heartfelt tribute honoring veterans, military families, and the American spirit.

Monica says what she loves most about Front Lines is the ability to continually update and reshape the production as new songs, stories, and inspirations emerge.

She extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and board of The Flowertown Players for supporting this 2026 production and hopes audiences enjoy the show.

The Triple Threat Intensive at The Flowertown Players begins July 6, and there are still a few spots available for aspiring performers ages 14-18!

This exciting summer intensive is led by Anna McSwain, an accomplished performer and educator with extensive experience in musical theatre. Students will receive focused training in acting, singing, and dance, helping them build confidence, strengthen technique, and become more versatile performers both on and off the stage.

Whether you're preparing for auditions, looking to sharpen your skills, or simply passionate about performing, this intensive is designed to challenge and inspire the next generation of theatre artists.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of The Flowertown Players' most beloved members, Arlena Withers.

Arlena graced our stage in numerous productions over the years, including Moon Over Buffalo, Steel Magnolias, The Cemetery Club, Social Security, Arsenic and Old Lace, and Murder on the Orient Express. She also generously gave her time and talents as a member of our Play Reading Committee, helping to shape the stories we bring to our community.

Arlena's warmth, talent, humor, and friendship touched countless lives both on and off the stage. She was truly a shining star, our forever leading lady, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The Withers family has invited all who knew and loved Arlena to join them in celebrating her life:

The Flowertown Players is seeking a talented, energetic, and fearless cast for The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), our fast-paced comedy that hilariously condenses the Bard's entire canon into one wildly entertaining evening. Expect rapid-fire costume changes, physical comedy, audience interaction, improvisation, and enough Shakespeare to make your English teacher proud! The show traditionally compresses all 37 plays into a single laugh-filled performance.

After two weeks of rehearsals, singing, dancing, building, painting, and countless hours of hard work, our young performers and technicians are ready to bring Disney's The Lion King KIDS to life on the Flowertown Players stage!

Tomorrow, audiences will journey to the Pride Lands alongside Simba, Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, Rafiki, and all their favorite characters in this unforgettable family musical filled with adventure, friendship, and some of Disney's most beloved songs.
