Southern Songwriter Festival 4th Annual Southern Songwriter Festival, Summerville, SC - October 15-17 2026

The Southern Songwriter Festival is being held on September 21st - 23rd, 2023 throughout Historic Downtown Summerville, South Carolina. The event will feature 40+ local and regional songwriters who’s performances will take place across 9 downtown Summerville venues known as the “Songwriter District”. The festival’s main stage is located on the south end of Short Central Ave and will feature Nashvi

lle Style Writers Rounds and is designated as “Songwriter Alley”. The event is free to the public with the exception of a special headliner “Listening Room” show to be held on Saturday evening September 23rd at 7:00pm at the Public Works Art Center (follow this link for tickets: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/2ac201c2-57bf-425c-8eb6-4c312264abf4). For the songwriters. For the stories. For Dolly.

We’re mourning the loss of Dolly Parton who was not only a legendary performer, but a songwriter who showed the world just how powerful a song can be. From “Jolene” to “I Will Always Love You,” Dolly built a legacy by putting stories, heart, and honesty into every song she wrote.

Throughout her career, she also made a point of uplifting young and emerging songwriters, sharing opportunities, encouragement, and the belief that their stories deserved to be heard. Just as the strives to do everyday.

Her career is a reminder of why we celebrate songwriters: because behind every great song is a story waiting to be told.

Thank you, Dolly, for sharing yours with us — and for helping make room for the voices that came after you. Your songs and your legacy will live on. 🤍

On this day in 1877, Thomas Edison invented the phonograph. This is the technology that would eventually pave the way for the vinyl records we know and love today. In 2026, we celebrate vinyl for more than just the music; we celebrate its ability to preserve and share the stories, truths, and voices of songwriters and recording artists everywhere. Shoutout to the vinyl record for shaping the music industry as we know it today.
