If you are looking for a YOUTH MUSICAL THEATER GROUP in Summerville? Look no further. At SUMMERVILLE YOUTHDREAMS COMPANY (SYDC), we offer quality instruction and help students develop their acting and vocal skills in a fun and comfortable environment. Students learn musical theater skills as they rehearse for the Broadway-style variety shows presented each year. We have a Junior Company, Grades 1-5, and a Senior Company, Grades 6-12. We have worked with many talented students over the years.
We always look forward to starting a new year with returning students and can’t wait to meet the new members who will bring their unique talents to our group. We work hard, and we have so much fun! Joining us again this year will be Harper Mobley, a graduate of the College of Charleston with a degree in Vocal Performance. Be a part of SYDC! It’s going to be a great year!
We rehearse on Tuesdays. Junior Company 4:00 -6:00 Senior Company 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

On Thursday, August 31st we will have our Season Kick-Off, and NEW student registration. Our registration will take place at Covenant Life Church located at 10 7 5 5 Highway 78 in Summerville. Our Junior Company, (Grades 1-5) will meet from 3:30-5:30. Our Senior Company will meet from 5:30-7:30. We perform exerpts from Broadway shows, do comedy skits. and have fun, as we prepare for our annual performance! It was such a pleasure to be interviewed by Leyla Gulen on Fox 24 News Now. We were so impressed with the professionalism and courtesy shown by Leyla and her entire staff. We hope you enjoyed this video, and we invite you to come out and visit us on July 31st at 6:30 pm for our annual Summerville Youthdreams Company Kick-Off/Information meeting. The meeting will be held at Covenant Life Church, located at 10755 Highway 78, in Summerville. We are about to begin our 12th season of SYDC, and we would LOVE to have YOU join us to find out more about our program.
During our interview with Leyla, we were able to share a little about ourselves, how the SYDC program was started, and how our program has impacted children in our community. While arts programs are often cut in our schools due to lack of funding, I am proud to say that the ARTS are ALIVE and well in Dorchester District Two, and I was honored to be a part of that for many years. Our program, like several others in the area, supports the wonderful programs in our schools and simply offers an after-school experience. If you are interested in having your child participate in an after-school musical theater experience, we hope you choose us! At SYDC, we work together, sing together, and have fun together doing what we love! Come join us!

Student Testimonial from former SYDC member Emma Lindsey:

“I was a member of SYDC throughout my high school years, from 2012 to 2016. Those four years in SYDC helped me grow so much as a performer and as a person. I started off as a girl who loved to sing, but was so afraid to sing in front of anyone. I cried and forgot the words to my song at my first SYDC audition in 2012. But by my final performance with SYDC in 2016, I was confidently singing solos in front of a large audience, and having so much fun doing it! Mrs. Dantzler played a huge part in this. She fostered an environment where I felt safe pushing myself out of my comfort zone. She always encouraged me and believed in me, and I could tell she saw great potential in me and all of her students. She taught us to be kind to one another and lift each other up. We were always a team, working together to put on a big show that we were so excited about!

I truly believe I would not be where I am today without SYDC. After high school, I went on to get my bachelor’s degree in music education, and I am now a middle school chorus teacher. SYDC helped me build the confidence to pursue this career. I am forever thankful, and I’ll always cherish the memories of my time in SYDC. I strongly recommend it to all young people with an interest in music!”

We believe that participation in a youth musical theater group does much more than just teach your child to act or sing. It helps your child become a better problem solver, improves listening and speaking skills, helps them learn to be part of a team, and improves their confidence.
