We had an absolute blast bringing balloons and face painting to Majestic Steel USA’s Summer Field Day in Blytheville, AR, last Friday! 🎈🎨☀️

It was so much fun seeing all the families come out and enjoy the day together. And one of our favorite things about events like this is having enough time to really let the creativity flow!

The kids were loving getting multiple balloon designs and face paint creations throughout the event — because why stop at just one when you can come back for another? 😄🎈

Huge thanks to Majestic Steel USA for having us! We loved being part of such a fun family event. ❤️

🕰️ Memory Lane – Post #4!

The other day we were down at the river, swimming and enjoying the sunshine, when Amulek and I spotted something zipping along the shoreline.

A brilliant metallic green tiger beetle! 🪲✨

I managed to catch it for a closer look before letting it go, and I couldn't get over how beautiful it was. Nature really does have some incredible designs.

A few weeks later, I was scrolling through old photos for this Memory Lane series when I stopped in my tracks...

I had completely forgotten that I'd made a giant balloon tiger beetle years ago! 🤯

The funny part? Without even realizing it, I matched the colors almost perfectly to the real thing!

This custom balloon was for a birthday boy who absolutely loved bugs. He was one of those kids who always wore a serious expression, so you couldn't tell what he was thinking... 😂 But his mom assured us he was absolutely thrilled with it, and that's what made all the work worthwhile.

Sometimes the best balloon creations are the ones inspired by the incredible creatures God already designed.

🕰️ Memory Lane – Post #3!

Remember that time we built a giant balloon turtle... and somehow managed to fit it, plus all of our event gear, inside our tiny VW Jetta? 🐢🎈🚗

To this day, I'm still not entirely sure how we pulled it off.

That little 2002 TDI was like a clown car. Every time we loaded up for an event, we'd find a way to squeeze in just one more balloon bag, one more pump, one more display piece... and somehow the trunk would still close.

Looking back, it's hard to believe we traveled all over with that car. These days, there's no way we'd fit everything we need for an event—not to mention the family! 😂

I do miss that Jetta, though. It wasn't fancy, but it was reliable, economical, and apparently capable of transporting absurdly large balloon sculptures.

🕰️ Memory Lane – Post #2!

While I was out in the garden today, I found some huge tomato hornworms helping themselves to my tomatoes and peppers. 😅

Unfortunately, one of my prized habanero plants didn't stand a chance. 🌶️💔

As I was picking those chunky little leaf-eating machines off my plants, I couldn't help but think back to one of our favorite balloon creations...

A GIANT hornworm! 🐛🎈

Jelly and I built this one as our display piece while vending at a reptile expo. If you're into reptiles, you probably know that hornworms are a favorite treat for animals like bearded dragons, so they were the perfect inspiration.

These days, though, the hornworms I find in the garden don't get nearly as glamorous of a fate—they go straight into the chicken run! 🐔 The chickens sprint over and practically wrestle each other to be the first one to grab them. They must be absolutely delicious. 😂

🕰️ Ever take a trip down memory lane?

Over the next several days, I'm bringing back some of our favorite balloon creations from years past—designs that have been lost to time.

When we changed our business name years ago, I had no idea that we'd lose most of our Facebook post history. 😭 Thankfully, I saved a handful of photos, and I thought it would be fun to dust them off and share them again!

We'll kick things off with one of my all-time favorites...

If you know me, you know I've always had a fascination with creepy crawlies. Giant centipedes have always sparked my morbid curiosity, so one day I asked myself:

"How big of a balloon centipede can I build?"

The answer... REALLY BIG. 😂🐛

When you’ve got a brand new baby👶, you’ve still gotta get your practice in!! Before I start with any actual designs, I practice my swirls 💫and dots and outlining. My amazing mentor Lori taught me to start with 100 of each before getting into any design!

Using my little kit, rather than the full thing, because practice doesn’t care what colors you use 😂🤪 and of course, snacks!🥭

By the way, our 5th child, Adah, was born a couple weeks ago. we finally got another girl and Jade (our model for most of my face painting pictures) is THRILLED to not be the only girl with a bunch of brothers anymore.

I’m out of commission til August, but will be here practicing my craft so when I come back, I’ll be totally ready to serve!! And of course, Matt will be available to twist balloons for all your parties! (And I’m manning the phones as usual)

We were blown away by how much the kids loved seeing their favorite dinosaurs, and by how much they knew about them! We had some very good volunteers who held the dinosaur pieces while we tied them together. You might say that this T. rex had a bit of an inflated ego and may have attempted to eat a child or two. Those teeth were pretty sharp!

Why can't you hear Pterodactyls when they are going to the bathroom? . . . The "P" is silent! Jelly had a ton of fun at her first two Library summer reading program shows yesterday, and I think the kids really enjoyed seeing the Pterodactyl and Stegosaurus come to life!
