Latest project, a religious piece for the Bon Ton Fundraiser event with St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. $150 to rent a table and you’re required to donate something for auction. Not quite sure about the auction piece yet!

The inspiration for this mosaic is from rhododendron trees at Abbotsford Castle in Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Walking by, one is instantly struck by the beauty of the pink flowers, ripe and peaked and laying on the ground like a pink blanket.

But the to get the true feeling one has to walk through the tree break and under it all. Suddenly, an amazing space opens up and the stark beauty of the branches, spent and empty, hover overhead like a bird with its wings spread, protecting its young. It was breathtaking!

Made this in Antarctica in 2023 and finally just made the frame today. I’m giving it to a co-worker and his wife to bring back with them to Canada 🍁. They love the weather in Texas, so this will hopefully be a happy reminder of their time here!

Made 2 years ago in Antarctica at McMurdo Station. Broken dinner plates from the galley, broken liquor bottles from many donors, silicone adhesive and floor grout. There’s are rusted out old Caterpillar D3500 generator bolts.

It was permanently screwed into the smoke shack wall.

Sunday: Adhered today to the cement post. Not that comfortable using thinset for mosaics, or mosaicking on a netting backing, but it’s necessary for outdoor mosaics and it went fairly well!

Saturday: Living along a hwy means you need a marker post! We found a free, used cement post and I made this house number marker for one side. Tomorrow we’ll install it and I will start the mosaic for the other side! It’s about 5ft in length.

First mosaic to be started in the new “The Bleu Paintbrush Mosaics” studio!

“Redwing Blackbird”

I used two different kinds of glass, one with a super neat metallic coating that only shows when the light hits it a certain way. It’s a discovery waiting to be found!
