😒 🎳 Is poor alignment sabotaging your bowling game? 🎳 😒
It's one of the biggest challenges bowlers face, making it tough to hit your lines, achieve good ball motion, and even negatively impacting your drift and swing!
Here's a pro-tip we use with our bowlers:
Grab a full lane image on your phone and mark it up! 📱✏️ See those full line intersection points – from your laydown at the foul line, through the dots, arrows, down-lane targets, all the way to your focal point at the pins. (Coach Now is JP’s favorite app 😉).
For example, a line from board 20 at the arrows to board 10 at 43 feet extends to focal board 1 at the pins and back to board 26 at the foul line, passing through board 23 at the dots.
This visual reference, combined with target process experimentation, will seriously boost your shot-making!
Remember: Good target lines need at least two reference boards. Experiment with different combinations like:
* Lay-down (foul line)
* Dots
* Arrows
* Down-lane (at a specific distance)
* Focal point (at the pins)
Knowing your drift (displacement) is also key to sliding on the precise board for your intended target line. Many bowlers drift, and that's okay, as long as it's not excessive or inconsistent. Your drift is often zonal, so check it in different lane play zones!
No fancy bowling app? No problem! Physically marking up a lane image helps you visualize lines better and ensures correct target elements. At lessons, JP even has hard copies for hands-on mark-ups. We're here to help all bowlers improve!
