🎳 LEGENDS LIVE HERE: Celebrating Decades of Excellence at JP’s Classic Lanes 👑
This week, JP’s Classic Lanes had the distinct honor and privilege of recognizing four incredible talents who have truly shaped the legacy of bowling in our community.
We are proud to introduce the inaugural recipients of the JP’s Classic Lanes Living Legends Award: Tarry Davison, Darreyl Dixon, Mike Gilliland, and Shayne Wilson.
This prestigious honor is bestowed upon athletes who have displayed exceptional, elite performance within our center. For decades—dating all the way back to 1982—these four gentlemen have been the premier talent dueling for top-performer status, primarily anchoring the powerhouse Thursday Night Commercial League.
🌟 📊 Historical Greatness By The Numbers:
To truly understand the impact of these four athletes, you only have to look at their staggering, combined career statistics:
• 81 Perfect 300 Games rolled between all four bowlers.
• 40 800-Plus Series achieved between the guys.
• 58 11-In-A-Row Games (just one heartbreaking frame shy of perfection).
• Dominance on the Lanes: Each of these bowlers has held either the #1 or #2 overall highest average in the entire center over the years, maintaining 200-plus, and routinely 220-plus, averages for consecutive years.
🏆 Record-Breaking Achievements
The House Record Holders: Tarry Davison holds the crown for the 1st and 2nd overall house high scratch series with monumental scores of 857 and 845. Shayne Wilson closely follows, locking down the 4th and 5th overall house high scratch series with incredible scores of 838 and 827.
• Championship Royalty: In 2013 and 2014, Davison and Wilson went back-to-back booking the Dallas Bowling Association All Events Championship in Division I. Tarry took the title in 2013 with a 2265 pinfall, and Shayne claimed it in 2014 with a 2157. To beat out every single participant in the entire Dallas Bowling Association Tournament, these men had to average a mind-boggling 239.6 or better per game over the entire tournament.
• Elite Competition: Shayne Wilson has also taken his talents to the highest level as a regional tour PBA (Professional Bowlers Association) bowler.
• Giants of the Sport: Beyond local league play, all four have proudly represented our community in amateur tournaments, State Tournaments, Association/City Tournaments, and Nationals.
Perhaps most importantly, their impact reaches far beyond their own scorecards. Through mentorship, service, pro shop expertise, training, and coaching, they have dedicated their lives to growing the sport and lifting up the next generation of bowlers.
Gentlemen, thank you for setting the bar so incredibly high for the rest of us—not just through your phenomenal talent, but through your unwavering support, character, and dedication to the sport.
