A little over a year after picking her up from our friend and fellow Jeep fanatic I decided to disassemble the custom rear box he build for us. I wanted to see if I could fit the Armorlite Cargo Wheelhouse Covers that became available after he had it built. Turns out they mostly fit and needed to open up one hole in the support beam. Love our storage solution that keeps everything secure during extreme off roading and still has a little room below the tonneau cover for some soft items. Dimensions are 38.5”x35”x10” and even acts as the rear mount for two of the four point harness seatbelts. Thanks again Joe for a solid build!

One drawback to running larger size tires is the lack of rear view. After checking out a friend’s dash cam setup I was sold. Wolfbox G900TriPro for the win! Not only can we actually see behind the 37 inch spare tire now it also has the main dash cam and a front trail camera which acts as a full time spotter on the trails. Not a bad upgrade for our 20 year old Jeep LJ!

My biggest complaint on the older Jeeps is the weak halogen headlights. Never seems to be enough light at night. So after talking with another LJ owner recently I invested and installed these LED lights. Still need to properly aim them and see what a difference night driving can be. These are the Raxiom Axial Series 7-Inch LED Headlights with DRL and Signal Function.

Day two saw us swapping to the four-door after the Yellow LJ's control arm mount sheared off. Took it easy on the trails but still a blast.

The canyon has become a second home, and this was our seventh visit in three years. Each time, the shifting trails and unpredictable weather keep us coming back for more.

While built as a rock crawler, it's tough not to want to drive it daily. We added an upgrade for a bit more comfort and to filter out pollution and allergens. Easy install and cleaned up the cowl area. Now our 2006 LJ has a cabin air filter. If it works out, we'll get more for the rest of the fleet.
