I used to reach for black whenever I wanted more contrast in my animal paintings. But switching to dark blue helped me create richer shadows and more vibrant colors without making my paintings look muddy.

Sometimes, the smallest changes in your painting technique can make a huge difference!

I used to think I needed to have a more interesting life to make good content.

But honestly… I work from home in a shared bedroom. Most of my days are just me painting, packing orders, editing, and trying to figure out how to make this whole artist thing work.

And somehow, that’s enough.

This time last year I said I was going to become a full-time artist. A few days ago, I mailed out my biggest Art Club order yet — 25 orders going to 13 different states.

So if you’re trying to promote your art and constantly thinking, “But what am I even supposed to post?”…

Just talk about what you’re doing.

Pretend a friend asked you, “So, what have you been working on lately?”

Tell them that.

Show them the painting. The mistakes. The packing. The tiny wins. The things you’re struggling with.

You don’t have to make your life look exciting. People just want to see the person behind the work.

Anyway, that’s what I’m trying to do over here.

Follow along while I figure out how to make art pay the bills.
