While she has been singing and performing since her first time on stage at an elementary school talent contest, songwriting has recently gained her focus and she is ready to share it with the world. Her love for music is deeply rooted in her upbringing. Raised by two musicians, Akeylah, developed a passion for singing and music exploration early on. She always knew she would be a performer and tha

t she would pursue a life on stage. She was so certain by age 7, she was practicing her Bruce Hornsby set in her room every night--just to be ready. Music has always been her outlet for dealing with stress and anxiety, and that inspired her to create a series of “Therapy Sessions.” These consisted of hours of creating, singing, and sharing her best moments with her family and friends through social media. The feedback and encouragement motivated Akeylah to revisit some of her original work. She has now recorded her first full track, originally written seven years ago. In the first few lines of “Uncertainty”, Akeylah begins to share her personal journey. It doesn’t take her long to let you know exactly where she’s headed.

But we’re here! We’re practicing self love every day. Sometimes when we sit in these jobs, we can let the people we have to experience every day decide our worth and our value. Our value to them, per their expectations of you within those company walls. We’re not doing that anymore. Only we can determine our value and set those demands and expectations for ourselves. And we do it with utmost grace for ourselves as humans walking this Earth for the first time. Every day of this new chapter is an adventure on my terms but every step I take is With Purpose, On Purpose ✨🌱

I’m a little late announcing this but we made it to the Finalist round in 3 categories for the International Singer Songwriter Association Awards! Thank you to everyone that took the time to vote. I’m so blessed to have so many that believe in me and believe in my art and my journey in music. This past weekend was packed with birthday celebrations, graduation celebrations, and wonderful family time. After all the rejuvenation, we started the week off right back to work. Homeschooling, Vocal training, studio sessions, nighttime set adventures, product designs, garden transplanting, video shoots, and photo shoots and it was only Tuesday!! Whew!! I am so excited for the next chapter of AS IS. New music, new videos, new EVERYTHING!
