And just like that the beams are up! I can't believe what a difference it makes visually. We've been seeing this very wonky beam for so long we got used to it.
Now things seems (and are) much stronger up there. A big step for progress! Thanks Clark Bros. Construction and hard working Mike!

Any local folks know of a carpenter/builder who can build good bookcases of solid wood for a reasonable price? Looking for a large quantity. Unfinished is okay.
Also looking for bookcases for sale. Must be solid wood.

The new roof will be done on (we think) Tuesday. The next box to tick on a long list lies in this room at the top of the 'Tower'.....it's hard to tell, but a section of the main beam in the roof is bowed fairly dramatically and needs to be replaced.
This picture is the third floor of what Macgyver and I call the tower. It hasn't been touched in well over 30 years.

Welcome to Calliope, Circus of the Arts! As some of you may know, MacGyver and I bought this fantastic old building and are in the process of turning it into an art center and a books/art supplies/arts and crafts/gifts store.

The art center will house two large classrooms, a gallery, a stage, a resource center for anyone who needs to know anything about art, a pottery, stained glass and weaving rooms and more. Whew!

Our purpose is to promote the arts and self expression in as many ways as we can so that anyone who expresses an interest in the arts (in whatever form that manifests) has a chance to explore it, get education, support and inspiration.

This page will chronicle the renovation of the building and our journey into this new phase of life we have chosen.
We both hope you will come along with us!
