Make a timeless Pumpkin Gourd with Jeff McCombie on Saturday, September 12!

In this class, students will be introduced to the unique craft of gourding through the creation of a simple, but beautiful pumpkin. To create your unique pumpkin we will focus on elements of design and color. After selecting your gourd, you will learn proper cleaning, sanding, and leveling techniques to prepare your “canvas”. Different methods of color application will be explored giving you the opportunity to choose one that suits your personal taste. Some artists choose to add adornments i.e. leaves etc their pumpkins; others like a more minimalistic piece; you will decide after viewing a variety of finished pieces. We will then explore techniques for sealing your finished piece. Sizes of the gourds range from 6"-10".

What a weekend! We had the largest number of customers through our gate since the show has been at Quiet Valley. The weather held out and despite some mud challenges, the day turned out to be sunny and temperate. Thank you to all the volunteers and the staff at Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm for all your hard work to make the show a success. To the Pocono show committee, all members of the Pocono chapter of the PA Guild of Craftsmen who started the show over 40 years ago and kept it going all these years. And of course thank you to all the participating artisans, new and returning. See you all next summer!

Good morning! We are getting ready to welcome everyone to our show today. We had a lot of rain here last night, so parking (in one of the farm fields) is rather muddy. While we hope it dries out, I would be irresponsible if I didn't let you all know that we have no shuttle bus today. Drivers can let passengers off at the entrance to the show and there is a path from the parking area to the entrance as well. We look forward to seeing you today~ and please use the attached card for a $2 off the admission. (that's another $1 off from our usual discount)

Today, the first day of the 2026 craft festival was one for the record books. The photos below were right before the showed opened to let the folks lined up at the entrance in at 10 a.m. From that time on, it was off to the races. We were all so busy manning volunteer stations, selling work, and engaging with the patrons that there was little time to take photos-- so imagine these photos thronged with so many patrons you can barely see the booths. Luckily we had a photographer there and his photos will be posted as soon as we get them. The weather gods heard our pleas and kept the rain away for a perfect day. Tomorrow's weather report looks fine, so come on out to the last day of the show-- 10 - 5 p.m.!
