That is a wrap on Music Man Jr. auditions! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out today. The last two days have been a spectacular display of young talent and you all have left the production team with some very difficult decisions to make! There will be no callbacks needed.

We know the waiting is the hardest part! So try your best to be patient and we will be in touch with you soon. You will hear from us by Wednesday at the absolute latest, though we will try to start making calls as soon as possible.

Thank you again to every single person who took the time to audition this weekend and to all the grown ups who encourage and support their young actors. We appreciate all of you and everything you do. ❤️

🌪ATTENTION AUDITIONERS!🌪

A message from your Music Man Jr. production crew about the potential bad weather tonight (Friday 3/14)!

We are still planning to hold auditions tonight, starting at 5pm sharp. But we understand there is concern about the weather tonight with high winds and potential storms. If you feel traveling to the theater would be at all unsafe and would rather not chance it we completely understand! If you decide to stay in tonight please join us tomorrow (Saturday 3/15) at 3pm or send us a video audition before 6pm tomorrow. The instructions for a video audition will be pinned to the top of the page for your convenience.

We want you to stay safe so do what you feel is in your best interest. To anyone attending tonight, we'll see you in a few hours!

🌛 HAPPY AUDITION EVE EVERYONE! 🌜

Auditions for The Music Man Jr. At Engle Lane start tomorrow evening at 5pm! We can't wait to see what you've prepared for us! Please show up about 10 minutes early if you can to fill out your audition form please.

Keep in mind that it's okay to be really nervous, just give it your all and you'll be sure to shine!

Join us at Engle Lane Theatre Friday from 5-7pm or Saturday from 3-6pm. Drive all the way around the back of the theater and enter through the south door and up the stairs. Hope to see you there!

✨️💢 FEATURED DANCERS💢✨️

To all of you with fancy feet who would like to audition to be a featured dancer, here is a video of the dance you'll be learning! Our choreographers will be taking you through it step by step at auditions but here is a chance for you to get a head start! There is a video in the comments of the same dance from the back in case you have trouble mirroring the movements in the first video.

Here is the second song we have for you to use if you need. Again, see the comments for a link to a YouTube video of the song being sung as written. If you need to alter the key to fit your range that is perfectly okay, and even though there are many different characters assigned to the different lines we'd like you to sing it as if it was written for one character.

🎭AUDITIONS ARE ONLY 4 DAYS AWAY!🎭
Have you chosen your audition song yet? If not, have no fear, we have a couple of ensemble songs from the show we'd be more than happy to hear you sing for us!
We will post the melody/words for each song and in the comments will link a YouTube video of the song being sung so you can hear what it sounds like. We are unable to provide backing tracks for these songs for you to use currently, but we'd love to hear you sing them acapella (without background music)! You may also change the key to fit your range if you need. You may see various lines assigned to different characters, please ignore these and sing the entire thing as if it were written for one person.

🤩VIDEO AUDITION INFORMATION!🤩

If you want to be in The Music Man Jr. this summer but just can't make it to auditions this weekend don't feel left out! We will be accepting video audition submissions from now until 6pm on Saturday March 15th. If you want to submit an audition this way here is what you will need to include in your video.

1. Introduce yourself to us, let us know who you are, how old you are, what role(s) you're auditioning for, and what you will be singing/performing for us.
2. Sing approximately 1 minute of a song that showcases your vocal strengths. A backing track (without vocals) is acceptable but not necessary.
3. You can recruit parent(s) or sibling(s) or friend(s) to help you perform 2 of the audition cuts provided in a post earlier this weekend. In lieu of this you may perform a 1 minute monologue of your choosing (not memorized) that keeps with the feel of the show.
4. Try to perform the dance we have provided video of (in an earlier post) to the best of your ability. We know it can be hard when you can't learn it in person so just do your best! If you are auditioning to be a featured dancer please also use this section of video to talk about your dance training and skills/strengths.

And that is it! When you have finished your video please attach it, and a completed copy of the audition form posted in the comments below, to an email with the subject: "Music Man Jr. 2025 Audition" and send it to [email protected].

Prospective auditioners, here is the dance you will be learning this weekend! Our choreographers have sent us a video in case you want to get a jump start on learning it! But don't worry if its hard to follow, they'll still be walking you through it step by step at auditions as well. In the comments please find the same dance shot from behind in case you have trouble mirroring the movements in the first video.

🤩AUDITION CUTS ARE HERE!🤩

Please find in the comments below links to the 7 different cuts we will be asking you to read from at auditions. We encourage you to read over all of them once or twice and think about what you might do to bring each character to life. And during auditions please don't hesitate to read for any character, no matter the age, gender, or complexity of the role! Remember, if you never try you'll never know.

Two notes.
1. You will see in Winthrop's lines every "s" has been replaced with a "th". This is because Winthrop speaks with a lisp and is not a typo.
2. There are no audition cuts that include the barbershop quartet. Their speaking lines are few and far between. If you are auditioning for one of these parts don't fret, just read for a different role so we can see your acting skills!

Our final character introductions are here!

The Barber Shop Quartet, consisting of Olin Britt (Vocal Range: A3-D5), Oliver Hix (Vocal Range: E4-F #5), Jacey Squires (Vocal Range: B3-A5), and Ewart Dunlop(Vocal Range: E4-F #5), is a charismatic and harmonious group of River City's male residents. Initially not friends at all and skeptical of Professor Harold Hill, they eventually become some of his biggest supporters, showcasing their close harmonies and charming personalities through iconic songs like "Lida Rose" and "Goodnight, Ladies".
✨️If you have a pre-formed quartet and would like to audition together please prepare a traditional barbershop quartet song for your audition! Using one from the show will work wonderfully. We will be looking for strong singers who are familiar with blending and harmonizing for these parts!✨️

The Pick-a-Little Ladies, a quartet of River City's most gossipy and opinionated women, including Maud Dunlop (Vocal Range: D4-D5), Ethel Toffelmier (Vocal Range D4-D5), Alma Hix (Vocal Range D4-D5), and Mrs. Squires (Vocal Range D4-D5). They're known for their lively chatter, sharp tongues, and synchronized singing, often spreading rumors and sharing local news through their lively harmonies and comedic interactions.

Come out and audition for us March 14th from 5-7pm and March 15th from 3-6pm at Engle Lane Theatre! All actors, ages 6 (by opening day, July 13) through 18, of all skill levels are welcome!
